Do you want to be part of a dedicated team, serving the community and improving lives? You could help Newark and Sherwood District Council to achieve its key strategic objectives, including improving and protecting the local environment, and reducing crime and anti-social behaviour.
We offer enrolment in the career average local government pension scheme, flexi scheme, a generous annual leave entitlement that increases with service, a whole host of family-friendly benefits, 1 days\' paid volunteering leave, lifestyle benefits platform, free car parking and \xc2\xa310 a month gym membership at one of our four gyms in the district.
Efficient home-working arrangements are well established. The Council\'s modern headquarters are in the centre of the historic market town of Newark, which has excellent road and train links for Nottingham and Lincoln, and lies on the East Coast mainline.
We are looking to recruit a suitably experienced candidate to act as Principal Legal Officer to the Council in relation to litigation law. You will lead on all areas associated with litigation including housing, regulatory enforcement, and licensing. You will also play an important management role in the team, working with the Assistant Director and the Principal for Commercial Law on the overarching strategy and vision for the future of the legal service. You will need to be someone who has a flexible, positive, \'can do\' approach; a lawyer who enjoys finding solutions to problems. This is a full-time role, but we would also be able to consider a job-share arrangement.
We\'re an ambitious, forward-thinking Council with strong values and a culture of doing our absolute best to serve our customers. We are proud of our organisational culture and receive positive feedback from our employees. We have a programme of internal activity to ensure that the voices of colleagues are always heard and that they are kept informed on all Council activity and events. It is incredibly important our employees are shown how valued they are and that they remain the beating heart of our workplace.
You will be working with a professional, committed, and experienced team who are passionate about supporting us to deliver the objectives as outlined in our Community Plan
