Salary \xe2\x80\x93 Circa \xc2\xa350,000 - \xc2\xa355,000
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll be doing:
\xc2\xb7 Provide specialist knowledge in responding to engineering queries raised by the MOD customer of Submarine Enterprise partners and relating to the design, safety, maintenance and operation of the equipment and systems installed in, In-Service Submarine platforms
\xc2\xb7 Provide Authoritative Advice, in accordance with the extant governance processes, for Astute Class systems/equipment in response to engineering queries raised by the MOD Design Authority
\xc2\xb7 Provide extant design information in the form of technical publications and drawings from sources where MOD or Enterprise Partners do not have access
\xc2\xb7 Liaise with MOD to raise Task Approval Forms (TAFs) for tasking not covered under core contracts
\xc2\xb7 Provide support to the MOD customer for the management of Operational Deficiencies (OPDEFs) raised by the Submarine Platforms
\xc2\xb7 Provide support to the MOD customer during Astute Class submarine incidents, liaising with the Barrow shipyard, furnishing specialist advice as required
\xc2\xb7 Support the capture review and assessment of Learning from Experience, passing it back into the submarine enterprise to drive positive change.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of Royal Navy submarine design and operating profiles
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of MOD Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) and Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) processes
\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of the complete engineering lifecycle with some experience in operating in a number of phases
\xc2\xb7 Have a strong awareness of Product Safety & Environmental policies and SHE
Desirable:
\xc2\xb7 Experience in the Service Environment (Air, Land, etc)
\xc2\xb7 Experience in Mechanical Engineering, Systems, Electrical Engineering or Naval Architecture
\xc2\xb7 Degree in applicable field (Mechanical, Electrical, Naval Architecture or Systems)
\xc2\xb7 Professional Accreditation

The Submarine Support Team:
As a Principal Engineer within the Submarine Support Technical Service team, you will be amongst the first line of support for UK defence including the Continuous At Sea Deterrent (CASD) program. You will work with others in the team to help drive the national effort to maintain submarine availability, with opportunities to take part in company funded training courses to better your own self progression for future opportunities across the wider BAE Systems business.
