Principal Engineer (roads)

Lincoln, United Kingdom

Job Description

Are you a skilled and visionary engineer with expertise in roads and transportation? We invite you to lead our team as a Principal Engineer (Roads) at LCC, designing and delivering Lincolnshire\'s major new highway schemes and improvements! You will join the performance-driven Technical Services Partnership (TSP), which combines private sector thinking with public sector ethos.

About the role

As a Principal enthusiastic and effective Engineer, you will lead a team of engineers of varying levels of experience delivering a wide variety of highways improvements throughout Lincolnshire. This role is full of variety and covers the entire county, so you will need a valid driving license and access to a vehicle. Your team will be responsible for a range of schemes from bus stops to bypasses and town centre improvements schemes to time and budget. Working within the political and business environment of the Council you will develop strong positive relationships with clients, colleagues and partners across all service areas. You will need to think creatively and work collaboratively, seeking opportunities to improve individual and team performance and service delivery in line with the Council\'s objectives.

LCC are proud to offer an agile and flexible hybrid approach to working, enabling you to strike the right balance for you and the service. You will be based in Lancaster House in Lincoln, where your presence will be required; a minimum of 2 days per week, but will reflect the needs of your team and the business.

About the team

You will join a team of other Principal engineers leading teams delivering specialist highways functions working in the County\'s Technical Services Partnership (TSP). We have a friendly and welcoming ethos (and one that enjoys the odd slice of cake or a night out!) where we strongly believe in developing and growing successful teams to help us deliver the best solutions for Lincolnshire.

About You

You will be an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) and be fully familiar with relevant standards.

You will have experience of delivering high quality schemes and an eye for detail. Passionate about developing people and mentoring, you will provide strong directional leadership to inspire and motivate a team of public and private sector staff. With excellent communication skills, you will also demonstrate effective behaviours in the way you work with your colleagues, clients and stakeholders.

With demonstrable road design experience since getting your IEng or CEng you will have line management experience who is confident in leading a team.

This opportunity has arisen due to internal progression in our pioneering team. Join us in shaping a better-connected and sustainable county. Embrace this opportunity to contribute to LCC\'s transformative projects, leaving a lasting impact on our community.
