Principal EC&I Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal EC&I Engineer to join an exciting organisation that specialise in the research, development and engineering of clean energy, nuclear power and radiation, across a variety of facilities UK wide.

As part of the Engineering team, the Principal Engineer will not only be able to get involved with a huge variety of projects, they will also have lots of opportunity to drive them through from start to finish \xe2\x80\x94 allowing the opportunity to see the impact of the work in a real-world environment.

The Principal Engineer will lead a team of multi-discipline engineers (including sub-contractors) in the definition, implementation and delivery of specified work that achieves safety, functional and business requirements. They will personally undertake some of the more complex design tasks as required and provide specialist engineering advice in the Mechanical engineering discipline.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to;

• Ensuring control, delivery and reporting of the specified work scope to agreed project function, cost and schedule.

• Ensuring that design solutions are fit for purpose, integrated & optimised, affordable and meet functional specification and execution plan.

• Ensuring functional technical, safety and engineering risks are identified.

• Ensuring appropriate and adequate design standards and practices are deployed and deliverables and solutions generated are safe, legal and adequately underpinned.

• Ensuring competent, SQEP people are deployed in functional work and periodic forecasting of resources are accurate and timely.

• Ensuring that appropriate design review activities are performed in a timely manner.

The Principal Engineer will be qualified in a relevant discipline. Chartered status is desirable although not essential.

The Principal EC&I Engineer will have extensive experience in engineering design with recent experience working in regulated and quality assured systems in roles where engineering judgement is a key attribute.

The ability to obtain SC level security clearance is essential.

Nuclear experience with background in control instrument design and nuclear operations would be highly advantageous.
