Do You Have Experience Working in A Drug Discovery Environment as a Computational Chemist?
I am looking for a Principal Computational Chemist for a leading CRO which is highly praised for its outstanding drug discovery services. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on integrated drug discovery projects with some of the most high-profile global biotech and pharma companies in the industry. The company is at the forefront of applying new software and techniques to solve challenging problems for highly established clients, and you will be a part of this exciting and expanding group.

The company\'s history has been very successful, having discovered over 30 compounds for their highly established customers, with over 20 progressing to clinical trials. As a Principal Computational Chemist, your role will include:
Collaborate with customers to understand their requirements and develop compelling project proposals
Lead the execution of computational work to an exceptional standard being at the forefront of scientific research, driving projects with the latest scientific software and cloud-based technology, ultimately solving complex challenges for world renowned clients
Manage, mentor, and oversee a team of computational chemists
Contribute to the promotion and dissemination of scientific research in the area of computational chemistry
Participate in the leadership team to influence the strategic direction of the group
Take an active role in the training and further development of the computational chemistry team
Utilise new modalities such as protacs, molecular glues, macrocycles and other beyond rule of 5 compounds
Apply new and emerging free energy methods to calculate binding energies
The company is based in Alderley Park and provides hybrid working with 3 days on site with a fantastic working environment. The role will include significant involvement in leading client facing projects and will apply your computational chemistry skills to the highest calibre, to produce cutting edge scientific research that helps clients produce innovative medicines that aim to improve the welfare of people\'s lives across the globe.
Skills and Experience Required:
Must hold a PhD in computational chemistry or a related field
A minimum of 5 years of industry experience is required
Demonstrated experience in pitching work to both internal and external customers
Proficient in creating persuasive content for quotes and reports
Ability to apply computational chemistry at various stages of the drug discovery pipeline
Prior experience working in a CROs or large pharmaceutical companies is preferred, but not essential
Experience in line management is preferred, but leadership potential is highly valued
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience in AI/ML applied to drug discovery projects
Passion for new technologies and the confidence to apply them in projects
