Job overview




An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Clinical Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly team and help shape the future of our clinical pharmacy services at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals.



We are looking for someone with experience and a passion in this area of work in hospital pharmacy. You must be an enthusiastic, motivated and a patient orientated pharmacy technician dedicated to patient safety. You will work with and lead the Clinical Pharmacy Technical Team to help implement, deliver and continually improve the technical and clinical support to the wards .



You will need to have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a large multi-disciplinary team. You will also need to be friendly, approachable, adaptable, flexible, willing to learn new skills and be committed to continuous professional development.



You will be a pharmacy technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have experience of line managing other members of staff.



This is a full time post and the post holder will be required to participate in the cross site working , and weekend and late duties as per rota.

Main duties of the job




The post holder will be responsible for leading and working alongside a team of clinical pharmacy technicians and assistants and working to providing high-quality, patient-centred clinical pharmacy services on the wards . You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of medication reconciliation, a vital step in ensuring that patients receive the correct medications right from the start of their hospital stay. You will also be involved in the seamless management of patients' own medication, supporting the efficient and effective practice of one-stop dispensing.

NVQ Level 3 Pharmaceutical Science, BTEC in Pharmaceutical science or equivalent Professional registration with the GPhC Nationally recognized Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician #####

Desirable criteria




Member of APTUK Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician Accreditation or equivalent Completion of a recognised management course BTEC Level 4 ####

Knowledge & Experience

Extensive post registration hospital experience including ward based clinical work Supervisory or line management experience Experience in writing and developing protocol, guideline & SOPs Experience of delivering training Understand how to mentor and develop staff Knowledge and understanding of basic management principles including team management and motivation #####
