About the role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to join our High Net Worth Underwriting team in either York or Bristol. The role will primarily be focused on High Net Worth Motor however their will be the opportunity to learn and underwrite High Net Worth Home (Bespoke) as well.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining productive relationships with our unique network of NFU Mutual Agents, delivering first class technical support and assistance on renewals, mid-term adjustments and new business.



As a High Net Worth Motor Underwriter you will be underwriting risks that meet NFUM's risk appetite and you will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues from all areas of the business including such as sales, underwriting, head office and the agency network to ensure that the level of service and underwriting you provide is second to none.



NFU Mutual provide a comprehensive induction to the role and will tailor a training plan to suit your needs. You will receive ongoing training which will support your career progression and personal growth, including developing your High Net Worth underwriting and market knowledge, as well as cross skilling on our High Net Worth home product (Bespoke).



We encourage a healthy work/life balance and this opportunity will offer you a 35-hour working week, with shift patterns falling between 8am and 6pm Monday - Friday, and no weekends! Our hybrid working model also means you can work from the comfort of your own home up to 80% of the time once you are fully up to speed.

About you

We are looking for a customer-oriented underwriting specialist who is committed to finding the best solutions for clients while balancing risk management and business objectives. Experience in General Insurance motor underwriting is essential, and while High Net Worth expertise is beneficial, it is not required as training will be provided. Ideally, you will hold intermediate underwriting authority or be actively working towards obtaining it.



As a proactive and self-motivated professional, you will be dedicated to achieving high-quality standards. Your ability to remain solutions-focused, adaptable, and customer-centric will be critical in ensuring positive results.



You will have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate solutions and influence colleagues across all levels. Strong time management and organisational skills will enable you to work efficiently while maintaining a keen focus on delivering optimal customer outcomes. Collaboration is a fundamental aspect of this role, requiring effective stakeholder management and teamwork to develop tailored insurance solutions that truly meet customer needs.

You will be confident in providing constructive feedback in a clear and supportive way, helping to drive continuous improvement.
