As a seasonal business, we experience a surge of activity during the summer months, so we're looking for a dedicated prep cook particularly desserts to join our busy kitchen team
Role Overview (live-in option available)
As a Prep Cook / Kitchen Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our kitchen operation, ensuring the preparation of high-quality dishes, particularly desserts. You will assist with the prep work for main menu items and ensure the consistency and quality of the desserts, while keeping a clean and organised workspace. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, perfect for someone who enjoys both the craft of cooking and the art of dessert creation.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Prep:
Assist in the preparation of ingredients for starters, mains, desserts and sides as needed.
Ensure all ingredients are stored, labeled, and handled according to health and safety regulations.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, ensuring proper sanitation at all times.
Collaboration & Support:
Work alongside the kitchen team to ensure smooth service during peak hours.
Assist with the timely delivery of food orders to the front of house, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation.
Quality Control:
Monitor stock levels of ingredients for desserts and dishes and ensure timely re-ordering.
Ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of taste and presentation, in line with the restaurant's ethos.
Skills & Experience:
Previous preparing/cooking experience in a kitchen environment, preferably in a similar role (prep chef, pastry chef, dessert chef).
Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, with excellent time management skills.
A keen interest in seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients.
Team player with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
