Power Systems Planning Engineer
Our client plays a critical role to the development and safe operation of the electricity transmission grid in Northern Ireland, due to continued growth they are seeking to add a Power Systems Planning Engineer to their team in Belfast. You will be part of the team that continues to keep the lights on while pushing the boundaries of safe system operation during the energy transition to our decarbonised future.
As a Power System Planning Engineer, you will have the opportunity to challenge yourself in a highly collaborative team responsible for planning the development of the power system in an efficient manner.
Your Role:
\xc2\xb7 Identify future power system needs and possible solutions by carrying out power system analysis such as steady state load flow, voltage and short circuit.
\xc2\xb7 Determine optimal methods for connecting generation and demand customers to the transmission system and identifying associated transmission reinforcements.
\xc2\xb7 Liaise with customers seeking a grid connection, communicating technical information clearly and effectively.
\xc2\xb7 Apply knowledge and experience in power system modelling and simulation using PSS/E, Plexos, DIgSILENT Powerfactory or DSA Tools.
Personal Specification:
\xc2\xb7 An engineering degree with 2+ years relevant post graduate experience.
\xc2\xb7 Ambition to develop experience in power systems studies, development and integration of new technologies on the power system and, EU/UK energy policy framework.
\xc2\xb7 Ability to solve complex problems in a fast collaborative environment, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
\xc2\xb7 Be experienced in, or with knowledge of power system analysis such as steady state load flow, voltage and short circuit analysis.
