We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team, working on residential and commercial schemes. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing project costs, ensuring that financial aspects of construction projects are meticulously planned and monitored. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control principles, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures to keep budgets on track.
Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of proposed projects.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure alignment on project specifications and costs.
Prepare tender documents and assist in the evaluation of bids from contractors.
Maintain comprehensive records of all financial transactions related to projects.
Provide regular reports on project costs and forecasts to senior management.
Assist in resolving any disputes related to costs or contracts during the project lifecycle.
Requirements
A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is essential (Degree qualified or NVQ, BTEC, BSc Higher National equivalent).
Proven experience in cost control within the construction industry is highly desirable.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
Proficiency in relevant software tools for cost estimation and project management.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong organisational skills.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
Good Understanding of JCT forms of contract & Contract law.
