We are looking for a creative quantitative modeller with previous experience in data assimilation methods, value of information theory and soil organic carbon (SOC) modelling. The PDRA will implement the methods to optimize SOC monitoring for carbon markets. The goal is to evaluate the economic impacts of information by optimizing combinations of technologies, variables and intensity of information gathering (frequency, sample size, etc) to define cost-efficient strategies for SOC sampling and monitoring.
The Opportunity:
This position will suit a quantitative researcher seeking to explore the combination of data assimilation methods, value of information and optimization for economic analysis. The project is a collaboration between UoE and EMBRAPA Informatics (Brazil). The PDRA will be part of the Global Academy of Agriculture and Food Systems (GAAFS) at the University of Edinburgh ( ). GAAFS is an interdisciplinary hub of expertise to support the transformation of agri-food systems through agenda-setting, research, teaching and translation to policy and practice. The PDRA will report to Dr Raf Silva and Dr Luis Barioni (EMBRAPA).
