Are you experienced in preserving and enhancing the capability of in-service secure communications systems including audio and data links? Do you have experience within an Aerospace / Defence organisation operating a full product lifecycle, with a demonstrable track record of design and supporting in-service communications systems in line with the UK MoD contracts and associated Defence Standards and Regulatory Articles?
Are you looking to take on a new and exciting challenge? If so Leonardo have a fantastic opportunity for a Post Design Services (PDS) Engineer to join our team in Basildon.
What you will do
As the Post Design Service (PDS) Engineer your work will be to ensure that modifications and re-design alterations are properly appraised and, where approved, implemented. The PDS process is concerned with the redesign, redevelopment and engineering necessary for preserving an equipment\xe2\x80\x99s capabilities at the performance levels formally approved by the equipment sponsor.
PDS includes the Design Authority (DA) work necessary to maintain the design and manufacturing data and reference equipment. PDS may also be used for minor enhancements such as meeting new/safety legislation, or for reducing in-service support costs. PDS also provide in-service engineering support to end users.
You will:
Understand how to implement modifications and design changes, including:
Configuration Management of equipment build standards
Management of the risk of change
Development of underpinning design evidence (including verification and validation activities)
Preparation of Design Certification documentation
Manage own workload and the expectations of line managers, peers, internal and external stakeholders
Support other departments in the successful delivery of existing products / services.
Actively and positively contribute to the design and development of new products / services
Use your detailed knowledge and understanding of legacy and current engineering technologies
Use underpinning knowledge and expertise to exercise independent judgement and management in the delivery of the allocated tasks across the full project lifecycle.
Produce high quality documentation in accordance with company processes and procedures.
Understand how to tailor the work required to achieve a task within the constraints of company and customer requirements.
Have a thorough understanding of the NATO stock numbering system
Be able to reverse engineer legacy designs with sparse documentation
What we need from you
What you really must have:
Experience of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) release and flight requirements
Knowledge of aircraft and naval paint finishes and adhesives
Experience of RF (1.5MHz \xe2\x80\x93 1.5GHz), analogue and digital design including microcontrollers
You must be capable of achieving full SC security clearance and will require access to caveated information such as UK eyes only
It would be nice if you had:
Awareness of Safety, Security and other legislative constraints Domain experience in Electronics Warfare and Electronics Countermeasures
