With a state-of-the-art audio and video studio up and running, we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for two Podcast and Video Producers to work across a range of HBM\xe2\x80\x99s award-winning brands, working on existing and new shows.
The three best things about this job:
Produce podcasts for award-winning brands with industry experts. Working across multiple brands and markets means no day is the same
Be at the forefront of our audio and video offering, helping to evolve existing shows and help grow our audiences
Pitch ideas to create new podcasts across a variety of sectors and new video content to sit behind our paywalls
Our journey so far\xe2\x80\xa6
Haymarket Business Media, the UK\xe2\x80\x99s fastest-growing B2B business of scale, recently commissioned a high-tech, state-of-the-art audio and video studio for our offices in Twickenham.
The studio is currently used to produce podcasts such as Beyond the Noise (PR Week), The Campaign Podcast (Campaign), Eco Chamber (ENDS Report), Room 106 (Planning), Talking General Practice (GP Online), Third Sector Podcast (Third Sector) and many more.
Haymarket is continuing to grow its presence in the audio space. As part of this growth, we launched PodPod, a sister brand to Campaign, that includes a podcast, website, and daily email bulletins. PodPod is the new editorial brand about the craft and business of podcasting, talking to all the key players, including podcast creators, commissioners, platforms and advertisers.
To further show our commitment and investment in podcasting, June 2022 saw Haymarket acquire Podcast Awards Ltd, owner of the British Podcast Awards, Australian Podcast Awards and the Irish Podcast Awards. Haymarket also became a partner in Podcast Day 24, a 24-hour global podcasting conference with live events in Sydney, London and ending in New York. Podcast Awards Ltd. sits within Haymarket Business Media\xe2\x80\x99s marketing communications portfolio, with plans to launch more podcast events internationally in 2023.
At the start of 2023, we began to venture into the world of video, by producing live-streamed editorial webinars. We have currently produced 8 of these, with plans to expand our offering and increase our frequency.
Here\xe2\x80\x99s where you come in!
You\xe2\x80\x99ll be taking the role of a Podcast and Video Producer in the Studio Team. You will work across several brands within the HBM portfolio, producing podcasts, videos and live editorial webinars.
You\xe2\x80\x99ll be working across all three stages of production: pre-production, production, and post-production.
During the pre-production stage, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work with editorial teams to source speakers, following a brief. As you begin to understand each brand, you will be able to help with content for the broadcasts, including storyboarding and scriptwriting. This will require you to be highly organised and able to multitask across many brands and projects.
For the production stage, you will be working in the studio, setting it up appropriately for each show and team, and recording content. You\xe2\x80\x99ll need a strong understanding of the kit in the studio, including how to record audio, video and troubleshoot any issues, should they arise. You will need to be vocal, unafraid to interrupt a speaker if they need to re-record a line, suggest they slow down when they speak, or sit up straight to project their voice more clearly.
You will also learn how to live vision mix for our live-streamed editorial webinars, so a keen editorial eye and attention to the best shot is a must!
Finally, the post-production stage! Once you have mastered pre-production and production, you will be challenged to edit our podcasts and video content. This will require a creative eye, fine-tuned ear, the ability to follow a brief, and a willingness to learn new skills. These are often required as fast turnaround edits, so strong time management is essential.
In the first three months, you will be expected to:
Build relationships with all the key players in the HBM editorial teams, including editors, reporters, and marketing teams
Follow technical workflows to record podcasts independently, to a high standard, and within the allotted time frame, and supply files to external suppliers for edits
Build a strong understanding of the technical equipment available in the Studio
Be a go-to problem solver
Gain an understanding of each brand, their audiences, and expectations for podcast and editorial broadcast guest speakers
Take ownership of the studio calendar, to organise recording slots
Key Responsibilities
Liaise with editorial teams to book appropriate speakers for podcasts and editorial webinars, and assist guests when they visit the Studio
Gain an understanding of each podcast, the format, structure, and target audience
Be responsible for the overall sound and technical delivery of podcasts
Create professional video content for our subscribers
Engage in a constant programme of training and development to stay up to date with the latest tech and podcasting trends
Essential skills
The ability to work to a deadline
Organisational skills and the ability to multitask
An appetite to learn
A willingness to work across a variety of brands, serving different audiences
Ability to work with external clients and speakers
Knowledge of media law, including what can and can\'t be said in audio and video formats!
Desirable skills (any of these will be a bonus!)
Experience recording podcasts and video
Video editing (using Adobe Premiere Pro)
Audio editing (using Adobe Audition and Descript)
Experience sourcing guest speakers and hosting visitors
Experience script writing and storyboarding
