We currently have a placement opportunity for a Quantity Surveying student looking to gain hands-on experience.

In this position you will play a key role in the commercial aspects of construction projects. The role will primarily provide a support function to the project Quantity Surveyors in preparing valuations of works and payment, keeping accurate record of revenue and cost accounts, and dealing with the administration that arises from enquiries from Clients and Sub-Contractors

Key Responsibilities

Liaise with project Quantity Surveyor and Operations teams to prepare works valuations in accordance with installation progress Recovering and collating payment reports from clients, taking independent action to solve the obstructions to full payment that may arise Site visits and progress reporting into the Senior QS/Commercial Manager Preparing and tracking invoicing and payment and developing reports to communicate their status to senior personnel via the internal software system Assisting the Project Quantity Surveyor to quantify and price additional works Keeping accurate and organised records and files of project documentation, particularly that having revenue or cost implication Keeping accurate record of cost and revenue accounts as overseen by the project Quantity Surveyor Preparing Contractual letters and emails, handling telephone calls to clients and sub-contractors as overseen by the Project Quantity Surveyor Update of Project Budgets and assisting to prepare monthly commercial reports, schedule meetings and respond to arising actions Ensuring team and company standards are adhered to and embracing the team ethos of continuous improvement Other Commercial related tasks as and when required

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

Working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying Good computer software skills required (particularly Microsoft Excel)

Highly developed organisational skills and ability to multitask Ambitious and enthusiastic towards a career as a QS in M&E sector with a result's focused attitude Strong problem - solving skills with a tenacity to work through high volume information to resolve discrepancies that may arise Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to liaise and advise staff at all levels A professional and assertive manner to deal with external and internal enquires To be flexible and work as part of a team. Results focused and strives to protect and achieve their own goals and deadlines. Able to work under pressure and meet short deadlines A strong work ethic and must be very 'hands on' with can do attitude
