As a Physical Security Advisor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be responsible for assisting the department's managers in articulating, advising and influencing projects on the relevant physical security standards, policies and requirements, such that they can be analysed, designed, delivered and maintained in the most effective and efficient manner.Day-to-day, you'll conduct security assessments: evaluate physical security measures and identify potential vulnerabilities.

  • Develop Security Plans: Create and implement comprehensive security strategies to protect against threats.
  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of security systems such as CCTV, access control, and alarm systems.
  • Coordinate and manage responses to security incidents, including investigations and reporting.
  • Work closely with law enforcement and other security agencies to enhance security measures.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.Essential experience of the Physical Security Advisor
  • Proven experience in security or in another similar role, with experience in security risk analysis and management.
  • Good knowledge of physical security threats, risks and understanding of health and safety practice. Knowledge of crime prevention and crime reduction, including designing out threats would be advantageous.
  • A sound working knowledge of security best practice and legislation affecting the security industry.
  • High levels of IT literacy are required, especially in all aspects of Microsoft Office, to write detailed reports and analyse/manipulate data.
  • Sound understanding of security systems, ideally including CCTV - Desirable.
Qualifications for the Physical Security Advisor
  • Member of RSES Register Of Security Engineers & Specialists
  • A degree in security management, criminal justice, or a related field is often preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) can be advantageous.
