The Tottenham Hotspur Women\xe2\x80\x99s Team are looking for a Physical Performance Lead who will be working within an established multidisciplinary medical & performance team including doctors, physiotherapists, sports therapists, sports scientists and nutritionists, all of whom have a proven track record of impeccable success in elite player management and rehabilitation to prepare individuals for the FAWSL & associated elite competitions.

Purpose Of The Role:

The Physical Performance Lead will be leading and delivering an exceptional physical performance service and rehabilitation programme across the Women\xe2\x80\x99s First Team, aligning with the wider technical strategy. They will also be responsible for leading the physical performance department in planning and delivering pitch and gym-based sessions, and for the reintegration of players to training and match play following the completion of a rehabilitation process. The successful applicant will manage other members of the physical performance team to deliver industry leading pre-activation sessions, post-training performance sessions, recovery strategies and match day sport science support as required.

The successful applicant will oversee the collection and reporting of daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal loadings of all first team players, and be responsible for the actioning of interventions to maximise player performance. This will include the maintenance of databases and visual presentations of data to the highest level of detail, ensuring complete accuracy at all times.

Due to the nature of the role and industry, you may be required to work out of office hours including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. The is a permanent position and annual leave is to be taken during the off season.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the strategy development and direction for the Physical Performance team aligned with the wider Women\xe2\x80\x99s and Talent Pathway technical strategy.
  • Lead the development and delivery of a physical performance curriculum to the Women\xe2\x80\x99s first team & Talent Pathway, which encompasses all aspects of preparation, recovery, travel, and load management.
  • Delivery of projects which support the overall strategy and provide competitive advantage for our Women\'s and Talent Pathway teams.
  • Plan and implement an industry leading rehabilitation program for all first team injuries.
  • Delivery of all pre-training sessions to all first team players.
  • Delivery of on-field warm-ups for first team training sessions where required.
  • Delivery of post-training performance sessions to all first team players.
  • Oversee the daily collection of GPS and Heart Rate data for all first team training sessions.
  • Oversee the reporting of training and match physical reports.
  • Oversee the reporting of weekly, monthly, and seasonal pitch loading reports.
  • Responsible for the reporting of recovery screening reports
Responsible for the implementation of an industry leading recovery programme around fixtures. This includes ensuring all equipment is maintained to the highest standards and is available for use at all times. * Collaborate with club Data Analysts for the visualisation of all training, match and monitoring data using Tableau.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with national coaches and support staff to ensure a cohesive multi-disciplinary approach for players on international duty.
  • Develop strategic relationship with the Men\xe2\x80\x99s First Team & Boys Academy Sports Science teams to develop a best-in-class approach.
  • Delivery of key research projects which support the overall strategy and provide competitive advantage for our Women and Talent Pathway teams.
  • Display evidence of continued professional development and utilise this to provide ideas of research-based innovative, practical strategies that are tailored to elite footballers.
  • Develop and maintain an extensive network of organisations and individuals outside football with whom to share and develop best practice.
  • Lead on recruitment and development of all roles under your remit including the PDR process, staff training, and education.
  • Lead the Sports Science team (including Talent Pathway), supporting their development and their performance, ensuring they have the facilities and resources to carry out their roles.
  • Create opportunities for staff to develop and learn within their roles.
  • Oversee the Rota for your team ensuring optimal cover at all times, including weekends and during the off season.
  • Work collaborative with the First Team and Talent Pathway. Instill a culture of support, best practice, and partnership within the team.
  • You must be able to work to an elite level within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the overall performance strategy of the team.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential:
  • BSc in a Sport Science discipline.
  • MSc in Sport Science or Strength and Conditioning.
  • UKSCA Accreditation (or achievable within 6 months).
  • First Aid Qualification.
  • Experience of working within an MDT in a professional football environment.
  • Experience of working with female athletes.
  • Extensive experience in delivering physical performance coaching in elite sport.
  • Experience handling and analysing performance data.
  • Excellent academic and applied knowledge of contemporary practice in physical performance development.
  • Proven delivery of programming and operational planning.
  • An understanding of the medical and scientific support needs of high-performance athletes / players.
  • Experience in managing a small team
  • Good presentation and data visualisation skills.
  • A creative thinker, with good with problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of latest performance software and technologies.
  • Fully competent in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Enjoy developing individuals to maximise their learning & potential.
Desirable:
  • UEFA B Licence (or ability to achieve within 6-12 months).
  • BASES Accreditation
  • EXOS Performance Mentorship (ability to achieve within 6 months)
