Offer Description

The LABDA project

LABDA (Learning Network for Advanced Behavioural Data Analysis) is an EU-funded MSCA Doctoral Network, that brings together leading researchers in advanced movement behaviour data analysis at the intersection of data science, method development, epidemiology, public health, and wearable technology to train a new generation of creative and innovative public health researchers via training-through-research.

The main aim of LABDA is to establish novel methods for advanced 24/7 movement behaviour data analysis of sensor-based data, examine the added value of advanced behavioural data analysis and multi-modal data for predicting health risk and facilitate the use and interpretability of the advanced methods for application in science, policy and society. Via training-through-research projects, 13 doctoral fellows will establish novel methods for advanced 24/7 movement behaviour data analysis and assess the added value of linking multimodal data. They will develop a joint taxonomy to enable interoperability and data harmonisation. Results will be combined in an open source LABDA toolbox of advanced analysis methods, including a decision tree to guide researchers and other users to the optimal method for their (research) question. The open-source toolbox of advanced analysis methods will lead to optimised, tailored public health recommendations and improved personal wearable feedback concerning 24/7 movement behaviour. For more information, see the project\'s website:

Evaluation, Acceptance, and Qualification of Advanced Data Analysis for Assessing 24/7 Movement Behaviours: LABDA Toolbox

If you\'re passionate about exploring the interdisciplinary aspects of behavioural data and its impact on public health, we\'re eager to hear from you. We\'re in search of an ambitious scientist with a strong foundation in fields like exercise science, health science, public health, or human movement science. If you aspire to make a meaningful contribution to science, which involves collaborating with professionals from research, public health, and industry, and to create standardized frameworks for behavioural analysis, we encourage you to apply.

Having an understanding of existing frameworks for remote monitoring (e.g., DIME Playbook ), knowledge of data management principles (e.g., FAIR principles ), and coding experience would also be favourable.

The successful applicant will work on the following objectives: * Conduct a scoping review of analytical and data standards for open research and best practices in 24-hour wearable sensor data analysis.

  • Develop a prototype of a benchmark to compare algorithms and software for assessing 24/7 movement behaviours.
  • Use consensus methodologies to engage with stakeholders across public health, industry, policy and research to identify measures that matter and fit-for-purpose resources (to take from a concept of interest to an outcome) that best meet stakeholder needs.
  • Design a conceptual framework and checklist for optimal accelerometer data-analyses across the pipeline and for multiple end-users.
