Job Description

We are a long-established independent community pharmacy in Bishops Stortford. We are growing the prescription and retail sides of our business strongly, due mainly to the high calibre of our staff, strong personal relationships with our customers, an improving product range and helping each other provide great customer service.

We seek an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join our friendly team of experienced staff.

With support, you will mainly manage our retail sales, and also help with some aspects of our prescription service. The position is Full-time, Monday to Friday.

The main duties of your position will be to:



Meet and greet most of our walk-in customers at the counter and on the shop floor, and answer phone enquiries Help and advise customers with product purchases Take in from customers their prescriptions for the dispensary team to prepare Give to customers their prescription medicines that are already prepared Help customers request prescriptions from their surgery Buy retail stock and processing deliveries, using an EPoS system Manage the till, cash up at end of day. Merchandise, promote and manage our retail stock, and keep the pharmacy clean and tidy Keep up to date with knowledge of health conditions and our retail products, and suggest new products to introduce to our range Advise customers on health services such as quitting smoking, flu vaccination, etc.

The successful candidate should demonstrate:



A pleasant and engaging personality Strong personal communication and customer service skills A friendly, tactful, positive and professional attitude Reliability in time-keeping and getting tasks done A methodical and accurate approach to tasks A history of working well in a team At least 1 year of relevant work in pharmacy. The ability to learn on the job
References must be provided that support the above.

Previous work experience in community pharmacy, knowledge of typical community health conditions and pharmacy retail products will be strong advantages to candidates.

As the successful candidate you will be supported and trained on the job by our experienced staff and the pharmacist manager, and will complete formal pharmacy-related qualifications. Over time, we would like to give you as much responsibility as you would like, particularly with management of the retail activities of the pharmacy.

You will report to and work closely with the pharmacist manager on a daily basis. You will also report to and work with the owner on the retail aspects of your work.

The salary is negotiable, particularly for strong candidates.
