Are you interested in working for an award winning social care charity?
Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within ENABLE Scotland by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants but what we can guarantee is that you will be supporting someone with a learning disability to achieve their goals and outcomes - whatever they may be!
Each person we support has different support needs, so your role as Support Worker may include assisting them with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support whilst expanding their social networks and connections.
ENABLE Scotland creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, and our team of Personal Assistants work collaboratively to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.
The Best in You Brings Out the Best in Me
The people we support have many varied interests and hobbies and have many of the same dreams and aspirations as we do; they just too often do not get the opportunity to experience these same opportunities. A career with ENABLE Scotland is as rewarding as it is diverse, Personal Assistants at their best have the potential to truly bring out the best in the people we support.
Let us introduce you to Jessie, Finn and Amanda.
Jessie is a kind and cheery woman. Jessie is very sociable and likes to go out shopping, for dinner and to visit the park. Jessie enjoys it when personal assistants can have a laugh and a joke with her as she has a playful sense of humour and likes personal assistants to play along with her. Jessie attends centre most days and likes to have her support either in the late afternoon/evening on a week day and earlier at the weekends. Jessie likes to take her time when she is out and about in the community, she needs someone who is patient and understanding and will take their time with her. Jessie is hopeful to start bowling and swimming again, these are activities she done pre-covid and she is looking forward to getting back to these activities. Jessie also requires support with personal care, this includes a shower and supported into her evening clothes.
Finn is an elderly gentleman who receives support everyday between the hours of 12-5pm every day. Finn requires support with domestic tasks, finances, medication and meal preparation. Finn likes a personal assistant who has good time keeping and is well organised. Finn needs some support with his mobility and can require encouragement from staff when going out into his local community. Finn likes to watch football in his downtime and previously enjoyed visiting his local pub with support from staff and this is something he would like to do more as he stopped going throughout covid. Finn is a friendly man who appreciates good humour.
Amanda is a very independent woman with lots of hobbies. She likes to playboard games like monopoly and scrabble, she has regular clubs that she attends and she really enjoys going to the theatre to see shows. Amanda requires support with domestic tasks and meal preparation. Amanda will often go out with staff into the community to get her weekly food shop and/or to get a nice bite to eat in a cafe. Amanda also likes someone who is dependable and chatty.
That is why Jessie, Finn and Amanda need you! Will you bring your best so that they can live their best life?
