The Role

The People Business Partner (PBP) acts as the face and strategic thought leader for the People function with his/her stakeholders. Backed by robust regional and global Centers of Excellence and HR Shared Operations. The PBP will act as an ambassador for the function, living the Edelman values through their actions, behaviour and communication.

For this role it is imperative the business partner is business focused, commercially astute and able to bring a flexible way of working to the role. Additionally, a strong ability to build strong client relationships quickly is critical, especially considering our fast-paced dynamic working environment.

In addition to the above, this People Business Partner will be responsible for driving forward our Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) agenda within the UK.in partnership with our global DEI center of excellence as well as regional People Partners.This role will lead our DEI efforts by designing, implementing, and monitoring programming and initiatives across the UK. Moreover, we would look for the People Business Partner to share their findings/initiatives/strategies with other market People Partner Leads. This role will work closely with the UK leadership teams, the UK DEI Core Group, the Global DEI team, and the Global & Regional DEI councils.

The People Business Partner (PBP) will join a collaborative and strong team within the UK and more broadly within EMEA. \

Responsibilities

  • People Partnering
  • Collaborate effectively with broader EMEA People Team and work together towards developing and delivering the EMEA Regional Strategy in full alignment with the global strategy.
  • Serve as a strategic partner and act as the interface between People and business leaders, managers and hiring managers, leveraging the CoE where relevant
  • Utilising a data-led approach (business and people data) to support decision making
  • Act as a thought leader on all things people, creating a vision for senior management buy-in and delivering integrated People initiatives to the wider business
  • Work in partnership with COEs to develop and implement internal programs, best practices and continuously strive to improve processes to ensure alignment with business objectives, strategies and internal/external trends
  • Work in an integrated way with Resource Managers, Business Managers and Finance Directors to develop a thorough understanding of the business\'s operations, its performance drivers and metrics, be across the numbers, and the talent impact/changes that need to occur in order to remain flexible and agile.
  • Coach internal clients and stakeholders on effective team building, performance management and culture initiatives both reactively and proactively
  • Understand and display good judgment regarding the overall business, applicable laws and policies, internal and external culture and values
  • Always seek to be a source of advice and not a barrier to success
  • Build and advocate diversity and inclusion initiatives across the UK in partnership with relevant COE teams and business sponsors.
  • Live Edelman values, leading by example and serve as an ambassador of the company brand
  • Consistently measure and analyze program effectiveness, utilizing analytics and redirecting, as needed
  • Lead the local market deployment of regional EMEA strategies and activations aligned with your business units
  • Work in true partnership with fellow People Business Partners both in the UK and who oversee regional teams and support the deployment of vertical strategy in the local market
  • Partner with local leadership to develop a clear and inspiring people strategy that creates the right culture, and executing the strategy using the right activities
  • Lead senior case work and manage employee relations matters in local market aligned to business unit
  • Support executive leadership (in partnership with the Marketing and Employee Experience functions) in developing a diverse culture within the local office. In addition, it is the shared responsibility of the People Team, Marketing Team and Local Leadership to deliver and build upon the EVP, fostering high employee trust, engagement and retention while making Edelman the destination for talent.
  • Identification of top talent within the business units they support through collaboration with Talent COE on development of initiatives and solutions.
  • DEI Agenda
  • Work closely with the DEI Core Group and UK leadership teams (Ops and SLT), to shape and execute a clear DEI strategy and framework for the UK
  • Lead the UK DEI programming, by designing, implementing and monitoring all activity and initiatives, serving as a senior guide and consistent thread across the DEI pillars, helping the business to stay on track with their strategy and goals.
  • Embed key gender pay gap related initiatives and programming throughout the year. Further to this, work with the UK HR Ops team on quarterly data preparation and support the UK leadership team with rolling out key initiatives to continue to advance female equality.
  • Assess, establish best practices and identify programmes to remove barriers that affect employee retention and advancement. Determine the appropriateness of introducing diversity initiatives and consider the unique needs of the local offices and employees
  • Help to develop and convey key messages, communicate around Edelman\'s DEI commitments and counsel leaders and employers as needed, partnering closely with local marketing teams
  • Identify, assess and partner with external key industry organizations and global partners to advance progress, create talent pipelines and ensure regional EMEA presence with external stakeholders.
  • Support the globalization of Employee Network Groups and enable success of the regional/local ENG chapters along with the Regional DEI Council, ENG executive sponsors, ENG Co-Chairs and local steering committees
  • You will have/be:
  • Experience of working in a DEI role with exposure to a wide range of leading practices, ideologies, and skills
  • Experience of setting, shaping and implementing DEI strategies, and developing business cases for projects and initiatives
  • Demonstrable enthusiasm and passion for the DEI agenda with a progressive mindset to drive and deliver exceptional results
  • Ability to produce DEI-related content for internal and external purposes
  • Strong communications skills, verbal and written
  • The ability to provide senior stakeholders with clear, confident, and well-informed strategic counsel
  • Experience in engaging, influencing and managing senior business leaders
  • Experience working in a global or matrixed organisation
  • Ability to drive for impact with a pragmatic approach
  • Ability to work autonomously using own judgement and as a key leader within in the wider People Team
  • Act as a positive champion for change
  • Strong and proven project management skills
