This position has program-level decision-making authority and is responsible for the strategic direction and implementation of Native Movement's organizational culture, grounded in Indigenous values, guiding principles, and commitment to holistic wellbeing. The PCB Director will oversee the development, budget management, and implementation of systems, policies, and practices that honor all forms of laborxe2x80x94emotional, cultural, physical, mental, and spiritualxe2x80x94while fostering relationships of radical trust. The PCB Director demonstrates expert-level knowledge in Indigenous approaches to organizational development, supervises a dedicated team, and manages confidential personnel information with the highest integrity. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring Native Movement's internal practices reflect the same principles of decolonization, justice, and respect that we advocate for in our external work, while navigating complex Alaska-specific contexts in our approach to people and culture work.Essential Job FunctionPeople Support and DevelopmentOversee the implementation of equitable and transparent hiring processes that prioritize Alaska Native candidates and those with lived experience in Native communities.Guide the development of onboarding processes that effectively communicate our values, culture, and ways of working.Collaborate with the People Support Manager to ensure compliance with relevant employment laws while maintaining alignment with our values.Develop systems that recognize and honor all forms of labor and contributions.Design and implement staff development opportunities that foster continuous growth and reciprocal knowledge sharing.Healing and Wellness LeadershipPartner with the Healing and Wellness Manager to create and maintain workplace practices that prioritize holistic wellbeing.Ensure adequate resources are allocated for staff rest, wellness activities, and cultural practices.Foster a culture that acknowledges the impacts of historical and ongoing colonial trauma and supports individual and collective healing.Develop and implement policies that center care and recognize that personal wellbeing is foundational to meaningful work and community impact.Organizational Culture and BelongingLead initiatives to deepen organizational understanding and practice of our core values and guiding principles.Create spaces for authentic feedback, addressing systems of privilege and oppression within our organization.Facilitate conflict transformation processes that honor relationships and Indigenous approaches to harmony.Ensure organizational practices acknowledge the contradictions inherent in doing movement work within capitalist systems, with ongoing assessment to better align with our values.Staff SupervisionProvide direct supervision to the PCB team.Ensure the PCB team has the support, resources, and guidance needed to fulfill their responsibilities.Model and promote our values of radical trust, believing each person brings their full capacity and commitment to their role.Facilitate regular team meetings and individual check-ins that foster authentic accountability and ongoing growth.Organizational LeadershipServe as a member of the Native Movement Executive Leadership team, participating in organization-wide strategic planning and decision-making.Advise on organizational structure, staffing needs, and resource allocation to ensure alignment with our values.Collaborate with other directors to identify and address cross-team challenges and opportunities.Non-Essential Job Functionsxe2x97x8f Additional or shifted responsibilities to be identified as the organization evolves.xe2x97x8f Participate in community education activities related to workplace culture and Indigenous values.xe2x97x8f Some travel to other Alaska locations as needed to support team connections and relationship building.Independent Decision-MakingMake routine job-related decisions. Additionally, this position supervises two to three PCB staff members. Generally, the office environment is calm, with some days of higher activity due to organizational events. Some noise from people in the office is expected, and may increase during events. We are a family-friendly workplace, so children of all ages may be present at any time. Dogs are allowed in the office, so there may be occasional barking and dogs walking throughout the building. This position may require travel within the state. Possibility of a flexible schedule and may need to be available for evenings and/or weekends..The physical demands of this position require the ability to occasionally remain in a stationary position, move or traverse throughout an office and event spaces. Occasionally must be able to transport objects through the office for various needs. Must be able to commute to and from an office and event space. Requires the ability to ascend a flight of stairs several times a day. Additionally, the employee must be able to exchange information and ideas so that others will understand, receive and understand instructions, readily recall facts and details, and exercise independent judgment.Job qualifications:Must have a real and authentic understanding of Alaska Native ways of life (we do not expect anyone to be an expert on all tribes or diversities of ways of life).Must have significant experience working with Alaska Native and/or Indigenous communities both rural and urban (i.e. cultural practices, potlatches, ceremony).Lived experience engaging and/or organizing within Alaska Native/Indigenous communities both rural and urban.High level of experience developing and implementing human resources policies and practices that center Indigenous values and decolonial approaches.Expert-level knowledge in navigating complex Alaska-specific contexts as they relate to workplace culture and organizational development.Demonstrated ability to transform conventional workplace practices to reflect values of holistic wellbeing and radical trust.Substantial experience supervising staff with a focus on relationship-building and mentorship.Deep understanding of trauma-informed approaches to workplace policies and practices.Ability to assess impact with a strong lens of justice, equity, and social/community responsibility.Advanced facilitation skills and experience in conflict transformation or restorative practices.Excellent oral and written communication abilities, including the ability to express complex concepts in accessible language.Significant experience in organizational leadership, with an emphasis on collaborative approaches.Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain confidential personnel information with the highest integrity.Experience with budget oversight and resource allocation related to people and culture initiatives.Outstanding organizational and time-management skills; detail-oriented.Advanced knowledge of process design and/or implementation in alignment with Indigenous values.Working knowledge of online tools for process management, including Google Suite, DocuSign, and Slack.Excellent self-discipline; must be proactive and a self-starter.Values-Based QualificationsInclusive to all LGBTQIA2+ identities.Understanding and enthusiastic support of NM mission and vision.Able to analyze information and situations in order to identify root causes of injustices.Values-aligned with our guiding principles:Practices self-awareness and demonstrates willingness to participate in mutual accountability.Displays humility, respectful inquiry and genuine curiosity, and a commitment to their continued growth.
