The roleThe People and Culture team at Cynergy Bank are going through an exciting time of evolving its HR model and requires an experienced People (HR) Advisor to join a newly formed People Advisor team. The new role will join a team of advisors who provide advisory and operational support to our People and Culture Leadership team and to leaders and colleagues across the Bank. This role will take a specific lead in the team on key activities for Employment Relations, Policy and Governance support.Whilst the role will be responsible for supporting across a diverse agenda, with exposure to recruitment, reward, talent and development, engagement, culture and values, it will be the lead advisor for supporting the People Director in managing employment relations, policy and risk and governance matters. This will involve:
  • managing our People and Culture policies and procedures; making sure they are compliant and up to date, in addition to then supporting the application of these across the Bank
  • taking ownership for the management, oversight and resolution of employment matters including leading internal investigations, disciplinary and grievance hearings, performance management and absence and attendance cases.
  • supporting the People Director and our Risk and Compliance partners on the timely delivery of reporting and governance requirements such as the Culture Risk reporting metrics and SMCR activities
  • looking to elevate our governance processes and data tracking to support the People and Culture function to be more data driven and efficient in meeting its obligations.
Responsibilities:
  • Using HR knowledge and experience to act as an advisor to the People and Culture team and the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s colleagues and leaders on people matters \xe2\x80\x93 this will touch upon all aspects of the employment lifecycle.
  • Leading on employment relations matters, using the People Director as a point of escalation and support. Provide guidance and judgement on employment matters including those relating to performance, conduct and wellbeing; aligning outcomes to both the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s risk appetite and overlay of the UK employment law framework and our regulatory obligations.
  • Keeping employment practice and legal knowledge up to date and using this knowledge to ensure the Bank is meeting its obligations as an employer and aspiring to best practice approaches.
  • Reviewing, updating and refining existing policies and procedures to reflect evolving employer obligations and ensure Cynergy Bank meets all legal requirements.
  • Ensuring the People and Culture team and wider Bank understand and comply with the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s HR Risk and Governance Policies, Standards and Frameworks.
  • Ensuring all people risk and governance requirements are identified, understood and met, through building strong working relationships with our Risk and Compliance function and partners. This will include complying with audits, reporting cycles, risk monitoring and assurance and issue remediation, along with embedding and ensuring compliance with the regulatory frameworks that apply to our Banking sector.
  • Proactively identifying areas of key people risk and improvement to ensure leaders identify any gaps and have appropriate mitigation measures underway or planned. This will include capturing risks and action plans in the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s risk management system and helping address open audit or internal review actions.
  • Update key metrics and data to ensure HR metrics are robust and delivered in a consistent and timely manner, and support a data driven approach in the HR team.
  • Proactively contribute, understand and adhere to the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s policies and procedures on risk management, disaster recovery and business continuity.
  • Proactively contribute to improving processes, procedures and ways of working across the People and Culture team.
  • Informing the People Director of critical activity, escalations and seeking support as appropriate.
Essential Knowledge & Experience
  • Proven experience of providing HR generalist and advisor support.
  • Proven employee relations experience; independently supporting and resolving employment matters.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a risk mindset and appreciation of the importance of managing and mitigating risk.
  • A risk and governance background would be beneficial, though not essential.
  • Experience of working in, and driving initiatives in, the financial industry or another regulated industry would be beneficial.
  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills which enable effective collaboration across all stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail with a desire to learn and expand HR knowledge
  • Process oriented \xe2\x80\x93 a sharp focus on being able to identify, capture, build and follow process and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Self- starter and entrepreneurial sprit and a \xe2\x80\x98hands on\xe2\x80\x99 approach. A quick and curious learner
  • Structured approach with excellent organisational skills
  • Team player with the ability to quickly forge and maintain business relationships.
