VANRATH are delighted to be partnered with a local government service that currently recruiting a Payroll Manager to join them on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for a payroll professional with supervisory experience, to take the next step in their career. Alternatively, candidates with proven managerial experience will also be considered.
Reporting to the Head of Pension services, the Payroll Manager will be responsible for leading, motivating and developing staff within the payroll team to ensure the quality of service is maintained. You will assume responsibility for the full payroll team and will have two direct reports. This is a high-volume payroll and will offer the opportunity to implement change within the processes, where you see fit.

About you
- Proven experience of running a computerised payroll process (200+)
- At least 1 years experience of supervising or managing a payroll team
- Up to date with legal and regulatory frameworks regarding payroll governance
- Knowledge of implementing and maintaining sound internal control systems
- Experience of public sector pension schemes (desirable)
- Manage and co-ordinate monthly and annual payroll cycles, ensuring payments are made promptly and accurately
- Ensure timely transmission of Real Time Information to HMRC in line with regulations
- Interpret and implement new pension payroll legislation
- Manage monthly payslip and annual P60 distribution
- Manage implementation of payroll projects
