The Role and the Team
We're looking for a Payroll & Benefits 'Guru' to own, shape and improve our payroll function at an exciting time in our journey. As Payroll & Benefits Manager you'll take full ownership of our payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. With plans to implement a new payroll system, we're looking for someone with the expertise and vision to help drive this transformation.

What You'll Do
Manage the end-to-end payroll process for three monthly payrolls (one in-house and two outsourced payrolls, with one of these in Australia) covering 220 colleagues
Ensure our payroll processes operate efficiently and effectively, proactively identifying opportunities for improvements and implementing changes
Liaise with our current Payroll system provider to resolve issues, drive improvements and enhance efficiency
Be the Payroll expert as part of the implementation of a new HR and Payroll system, evolving payroll processes for the new system and leading parallel runs to ensure a smooth transition for colleagues
Oversee the administration of company benefits (including pensions, private medical insurance, health cash plans and life assurance), managing relationships with external providers and brokers, overseeing contract renewals and involvement in the implementation of new benefits
Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, including HMRC reporting, pensions auto-enrolment and year-end processes
Enhance and implement robust controls and checks to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance
Manage and develop the Payroll & Benefits Administrator, who you will have line management responsibility for
What
You'll Bring
Substantial Payroll experience with strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, NIC, pensions auto-enrolment, and statutory payments
Extensive experience of managing in-house payroll within a fast-paced, high-performance environment
People management experience
Proficiency with Payroll & HR systems and advanced Excel skills
Ability to communicate complex payroll issues clearly and professionally to diverse stakeholders
Continuous improvement mindset, with demonstrable experience of improving payroll processes to drive results
We'd

Experience in administering and implementing benefits schemes, as well as working with third-party providers
International payroll experience
Experience of managing outsourced payrolls
Experience implementing a new Payroll or new Payroll system
CIPP qualification or equivalent
