WHAT TO EXPECT

Stamping\'s GME is responsible for the full end to end forming process for all major stamped parts, for all JLR vehicles. This includes managing the development, manufacture, and successful launch of tooling and associated equipment into our internal operational facilities.

As the Part Design & Process standards engineer, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and release of all the standards associated to Part Design from a processing point of view, and the simulation processing standards.

In addition, the candidate will be responsible for Leading the delivery of Innovation Projects and R&D across the wider Stamping GME function through cross functional work with a multi-disciplinary team of stakeholders steering the delivery of the new technologies into new standards. This will allow and innovation mindset and future strategy focus, enabling further Capex / OpEx efficiencies.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the development of the Stamping GME Part Design & Process Standards and associated workstreams (e.g. Simulation procedures, FMEA development, Part forming requirements etc.)
  • Lead the research and introduction of new technologies for the Stamping GME, evidencing business benefits (i.e., Capex/ OpEx, HPH, Part quality, etc)
  • Work closely with all the Stamping GME functions, including our operational plants, and the academia world for the creation and delivery of proof-of-concept trials, culminating into new standards.
  • Provide technical support for the Feasibility & Process Engineering team, as well as the ESP\'s & Tooling Suppliers.
  • Lead the development of a part-by-part BoD / BoP to enable a clear part by part strategy across all programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements as per IATF 16949.
  • Lead the Stamping GME wider Standards Governance sessions.
  • Support ESP\'s & Tooling Suppliers and critical buy-off activities and capture associated Lessons Learnt through the process.
  • Lead investigations within the Engineering and Operations teams across the 3 UK press shops as part of simulation/ process technologies or continuous improvements activities
  • Lead internal / external benchmarking activities (e.g., Part, Forming & Process Simulation standards, technologies & production practices)
  • Manage and quantify the expenditures for all project works.
  • Report / escalate all the above as required to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Dashboard Report, delivery to management team when required.
  • Ensure learning from one program to another is captured and contained within Part Design & Process standards and operating procedures.
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Strong and Wide-ranging understanding of Autoform, Catia & Tce, including Material Forming techniques, Autoform Simulation and Tribology.
  • Strong knowledge of stamping tools and die design standards applicable for high / low volume production.
  • Experience of authoring complex ESoW, RFI/ RFQ and Engineering Standards
  • Strong project management and planning skills.
  • Experience of leading and delivering new technologies and projects, working with cross-functional stakeholders of a varied skill set.
  • Ability to lead the development of new PFMEA\'s, working with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience using DMAIC, 5W, 8D investigations.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication and comprehension skills, with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong presentation skills to report/ liaise with Senior Leadership Teams and JLR Tech Forums
  • Previous experience using CCAR & Lessons Learnt methods.
  • Ability to negotiate technical solutions, manage and balance technical vs. non-technical demands between Engineering and Stamping Plants
  • Ability to prepare and evaluate VFM, Capex, OpEx and business cases for all workstreams.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) A thorough understanding of press tool through from design, methods, and technologies.
Desirable:
  • Previous audit experience and record management procedure
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • FEA / CAE analysis skills using a relevant platform (e.g., Catia v5, Altair Inspire)
  • Advanced Catia v5 modelling skills e.g., design and surface geometry modifications.
  • Knowledge of other CAD platforms e.g., Catia v6
  • Previous experience with IT and Project Approval workstreams i.e., ITAC & Star Chamber
  • Awareness of PSW / PPAP and WERS Alerts
  • GD&T awareness / training
  • Plant Induction & ECPL Training
  • Insight on wider industry and competitor technologies and tooling standards / methods
  • Keen interest in new technologies i.e., tooling, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, etc. Understanding of Panel Cosmetic concerns
