Paralegal - Governance, Legal and Risk Team.



35,000 per annum plus benefits.

Home-based with occasional travel. 12-month fixed-term contract.

The role and what you take care of:



To provide comprehensive legal support to Magna Housing, including offering advice and guidance on housing litigation matters such as possession claims, anti-social behaviour, injunctions, and disrepair claims.



Your main responsibilities include:



Overseeing the contract review process, drafting and reviewing various commercial agreements including service and supplier contracts. Managing a mix of pre-litigated and litigated disrepair claims. Advising on disrepair issues to assist operational teams in effectively fulfilling the organisation's obligations. You will collaborate closely with surveyors, contractors, and internal teams to effectively address condition issues, ensuring compliance with the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Condition Claims. Additionally, you will adopt a pragmatic approach to settlements, draft legal documents such as pleadings and witness statements, manage disclosure processes and conduct interviews, and offer clients informed advice on litigation and potential costs. Conducting legal research, preparing for hearings, advising clients, negotiating settlements, ensuring compliance with protocols, staying updated on legal procedures, maintaining precedent documents, supporting business legal projects, and aiding in business planning and improvement of the department. What you need to be successful:



Minimum of 12 months experience handling housing condition cases and familiarity with the housing disrepair protocol. Sound knowledge in housing disrepair litigation, and it would be advantageous to have experience in drafting and reviewing commercial contracts. Excellent communication, organisational, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with commercial acumen. An understanding of the Housing Sector would be advantageous. A preferred qualification is a Law Degree or Graduate Diploma in Law, or an equivalent credential.
