Haygrove is looking for a Packhouse Trainer and System Controller to play a critical role in ensuring operational excellence and compliance within the packhouse. Reporting directly to the Packhouse Manager, this role is responsible for developing and delivering effective training programs tailored to individual roles, evaluating staff performance, and fostering continuous improvement across all teams. With a strong focus on health, safety, and food compliance, the role involves updating training materials, conducting toolbox talks, and maintaining up-to-date documentation. The individual also supports audits, performs self-assessments, manages PPE distribution, and oversees pest control procedures.

Key accountabilities of the role



Training Delivery & Development



Deliver individual and group training sessions in line with the Packhouse and Driscoll's manuals. Develop, review, and update training materials, including PowerPoint presentations and checklists. Conduct retraining sessions to address skill gaps or non-conformance

Performance Monitoring & Support



Monitor and assess staff performance against set targets and training objectives. Provide feedback to team leaders and managers regarding underperformance or training needs. Guide team members to ensure understanding and adherence to procedures.

Compliance & Safety Management



Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and food safety procedures. Conduct risk assessments, participate in site self-audits, and address non-conformances. Maintain and update documentation related to safety protocols and Packhouse compliance.

Operational Systems & Documentation



Oversee completion and accuracy of operational systems (e.g., T100 tasks). Maintain up-to-date Packhouse manuals, processes, and procedures. Manage pest control documentation and close out Ecolab recommendations. Lead toolbox talks and communicate changes in processes or procedures.

Communication & Collaboration



Translate information for staff when necessary to support understanding. Participate in daily meetings and collaborate across departments to maintain smooth operations.

Visitor Engagement & Induction



Conduct Packhouse tours and explain operational processes to visitors or new staff. Support onboarding through clear explanation of expectations and safety procedures.

Resource & Stock Management



Issue and manage stock of PPE for staff. Ensure resources needed for training and safety are available and properly recorded.

Flexibility & Multi-role Support



Provide cover for various roles including admin, QA, intake, and QC when required. Maintain flexibility to adapt to changing operational needs and priorities.

Experience



Previous experience in designing and delivering training programs, ideally in a production, agricultural, or packhouse environment. Knowledge of training evaluation methods and tools (e.g., training checklists, performance tracking). Experience assessing worker performance and identifying skill gaps. Ability to manage a team and foster a collaborative working environment. Knowledge of hygiene, health, and safety standards. Ability to problem-solve and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: 13.50-15.50 per hour
