What is the job role?

We are looking for a number of Outdoor Education Tutors to join our team at Plas Dol-y-Moch Outdoor Education Centre, North Wales.

Initially fixed term up until the 20th of December 2023 the posts are Term Time only - 0.65 (24 hour per week, averaged over the term) to start the 1st of September 2023.

Based in Snowdonia, North Wales, Plas Dol-y-Moch delivers a range of Outdoor Education and Adventurous Activity residential courses.

You will be a member of the Coventry Outdoors staff team delivering a range of Outdoor Education and Adventurous Activities, working with children, young people, schools, families and other key groups. Experienced in the provision of outdoor education you will be able to deliver high-quality programmes and sessions to the wide variety of groups that visit our centre each year. You will also support with operational duties to ensure the safe and effective function of the Centre.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Who are we looking for?

We are seeking dynamic individuals with a up to date knowledge of Outdoor Education, pedagogy and practice and how this supports schools\' delivery in the curriculum.

You will need to plan and deliver activity sessions and programmes using a broad range of outdoor skills.

Applicants must hold at least 2 National Governing Body awards at or above the following.

  • Mine Leader (N. Wales)
  • Summer Mountain Leader or above
  • Paddlesports Leader (or above)
  • Rock Climbing Instructor (or above)
And in addition, hold:
  • D1 Driving Licence
  • Current First Aid (16hr min)
It is essential that you are willing and able to work evenings and weekends.
