Full time 37.5 hours per week - Monday-Friday 08:30-16:30



The Ophthalmology Nurse Specialist will provide specialist ophthalmology nursing knowledge, skills and competence in developing and maintaining the provision of nurse led clinics and services. They will be a competent nurse specialist for the service.



The Ophthalmology Nurse Specialist shares workload and responsibility with medical staff and other ophthalmology clinical staff to make the best use of specialist clinical skills within the ophthalmology department, enabling the department to provide this specialized service. They will assist in leading and monitoring the performance and work of the nursing team, and deputies for the clinic manager as and when required. The successful candidate will be required to assist with Roster Planning and ensuring adequate staffing levels. assist in the management of sickness, absence and staff wellbeing. Promote professional development and uphold clinical standards and provide day to day supervision mentorship and performance feedback. The successful applicant will be required to work across sites when required.



The Ophthalmology Eye Clinic at The Princess of Wales Hospital has a vacancy for a dynamic, highly motivated and experienced nurse practitioner to join our progressive department. We are looking for an ophthalmic practitioner keen to learn additional skills, such the pre-assessment and management skills . Experience in participating or leading on improvement programs is desirable with an interest in improving clinic efficiencies and exploring new ways of working and service transformation.



You must possess good communication skills and be able to work well as part of a team. You must be flexible in your approach and be able to respond appropriately to the demands of an ever changing workload.



The Ophthalmology Nurse Specialist is expected :



To provide specialist ophthalmology advice.



To accept direct emergency referrals from other healthcare professionals and medical staff.



Take clinical histories and carry out examinations to make a differential diagnosis during autonomous nurse led clinic sessions.



Following training and assessment of competence perform specialist ophthalmology procedures.



Manage the department in the absence of the Department Manager.

Managing attendance at work



Roster Planning



PADR



Managing the day to day running of the Ophthalmic Department.
