What you will do
We have an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Occupational Health Technician to join the South Wales team. The role will be based in Port Talbot but travel across our other South Wales sites will be required.
Maintaining and promoting health at work is key to achieving personal well-being and effective performance at work. The main aim for occupational health is to prevent ill health from wherever it may arise in the workplace. Occupational health is a multifaceted activity concerned with the prevention of ill health in employed populations.
It involves a two way partnership between work and health and is as much related to the effects of the working environment on the health of workers as to the influence of the workers state of health on their ability to perform tasks for which they are employed. The main aim for occupational health is to prevent, rather than cure, ill health from wherever it arises in the workplace.
The Occupational Health Technician reports to the Surveillance Team Leader as a part of the OH team, will provide Occupational Health screening services to Tata employees at the Port Talbot and our Gwent sites.
Within the role you will perform health assessments, fitness to work assessments and health surveillance, under indirect supervision of the Surveillance Team Leader / Occupational Health Advisor in line with professional standards, company standards and legislative requirements.
