WHAT TO EXPECT
The JLR Vehicle NVH team is responsible for ensuring the delivery of peerless refinement across all Jaguar and Land Rover programmes. The attribute function is responsible for defining strategy, methods and target set for the full vehicle, systems and components. Hardware is developed physically and virtually, with detailed investigations undertaken to ensure vehicles achieve all defined targets and meet customer expectations for the respective segments.
Within Vehicle NVH the Airborne Noise technical squad is responsible for ensuring that the levels of airborne noise observed within the vehicle cabin are aligned to customer expectations for all Jaguar Land Rover Vehicles. This includes contribution from road, powertrain and other noise sources. The team conducts thorough benchmarking and target setting relating to the vehicle acoustic transfer functions to allow definition of the acoustic pack and sealing strategy across all vehicle lines. Engineers are proactively engaged with the commodity teams early on in the programme to ensure the entitlement is available to deliver to stringent ATF requirements. Key interactions include Vehicle Engineering, Body Engineering, Powertrain, Packaging, Manufacturing, Electrical & other attribute areas. The team are involved from the early concept development phases through to launch, utilising CAE methodologies, virtual design reviews, component / sub-system testing and full-vehicle testing to drive the design in the required direction.
As a Lead Engineer you will form part of an engineering squad leading the virtual and physical development of the acoustic pack and sealing to deliver the desired performance for the end user. You will carry out virtual and physical design reviews, driving solutions to problems such as package issues / attribute conflicts / target shortfalls. You will also be expected to support off-cycle activities with a view to develop the process and techniques related to airborne noise delivery.
