The Role
As Third in Charge, you will work alongside the management team to ensure the smooth running of the nursery and provide day-to-day leadership across the setting. You will support practitioners, champion best practice, and help maintain an environment where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to learn.
Key Responsibilities:
Support and lead staff to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
Deliver high standards of care and education in line with EYFS requirements
Take the lead within a room, supervising daily activities and mentoring practitioners
Communicate effectively with children, families, and the wider team to foster strong partnerships
Monitor, review, and enhance childcare practices to ensure continuous improvement
Assist in team development through goal-setting, feedback, and professional support
Contribute to nursery operations, including budget management and resource planning
Step into management duties when required, ensuring continuity and quality standards are maintained
What We Are Looking For:
A Level 3 qualification or above in Early Years Education (essential)
Previous experience in an early years setting, with some leadership responsibility (preferred)
Strong working knowledge of the EYFS framework and safeguarding practices
Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
A genuine passion for early years education and a commitment to nurturing every child's potential
