We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and enthusiastic
Nursery Room Leader
to join our early years team within our
Under 3s unit
. This role is ideal for a passionate practitioner ready to take the next step in their early years career.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Unit Lead in delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the EYFS framework.
Plan and implement structured and free-play opportunities that promote holistic child development.
Maintain and monitor room documentation including daily diaries, nappy/toilet checks, and sleep charts.
Observe children regularly and ensure learning journals are updated and uploaded to the nursery's parent app.
Supervise and guide Practitioners, Apprentices, and Students, modelling best practices in care, education, and behaviour management.
Take responsibility for leading the room in the Unit Lead's absence, ensuring consistent routines and high-quality care.
Build strong relationships with parents, providing regular updates on children's progress and addressing concerns appropriately.
Maintain high standards of health, safety, and safeguarding, reporting concerns in line with policy.
Assist with SEND implementation in the room, ensuring Individual Care Plans and support strategies are followed.
Conduct and support regular risk assessments, fire drills, and audits to ensure safety protocols are met.
Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development to stay updated on best practices.
Essential Requirements:
Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education (e.g. CACHE/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
Experience in an early years setting with some leadership responsibilities preferred.
Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and early years pedagogy.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and health & safety compliance.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to support and guide a team effectively, promoting a positive working environment.
Organised, proactive, and passionate about children's development and well-being.
Experience as a key person, with confidence in observations and progress tracking.
Up-to-date Paediatric First Aid, Enhanced DBS check, and Safeguarding Training (or willingness to obtain).
