Job Description

To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the nursery.

To give support to other personnel within the nursery.

To implement the daily routine in the base room.

Main duties



1. Formulate and operate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in your area.

2. Prepare the children's records in your group and institute reviews for parents, in conjunction with the Manager.

3. Work with parents of special needs children to achieve full integration in the nursery.

4. Foresee the needs of special needs children and give physical, emotional, intellectual guidance as appropriate.

5. Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.

6. Liaise with and support parents and other family members.

7. Liaise with the local authority and other professionals associated with the nursery.

8. To promote equal opportunities throughout the day in the Nursery.

9. To be involved in ALL out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, summer fare, Christmas party, etc.

10. Undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment and such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the Manager.

11. To complete Level 5 Children's Care Learning & Development (or equivalent) qualification (if not already completed)

12. Participate in the training programmes of a wide variety of students (i.e. placements and volunteers), by giving guidance and support.

13. Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the nursery philosophy is fulfilled.

14. To ensure good standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times and be responsible for the Health and Safety standards appropriate for the needs of young children.

15. Record accidents in the accident book. Ensure the Manager has initialled the report before the parent receives it.

16. To ensure confidentiality of information received.

17. To develop and maintain good relationships and communications with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring needs.

18. Ensure someone known to the nursery collects child.

The successful candidate will -

Hold a level 3 or above qualification in childcare. Work 42.5 hours per week all year round.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 28,006.65 per year
