Rocking Horse Montessori Nursery in Carleton, North Yorkshire, is seeking an experienced Nursery Manager for a full-time position.
While direct experience of working with the Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches is not required, we do expect candidates to demonstrate their commitment to implementing the Montessori model and Reggio Emilia approach, including curriculum design and the forest school initiative.
Our welcoming nursery is registered for up to 59 children aged from 5 months to 5 years old and is deeply committed to safeguarding children while providing high-quality education and care. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in nursery management and a passion for promoting professional development and well-being for all staff members.
What skills and experience we are looking for:
At least Level 3 qualified in a UK recognised early years qualification, Level 6 preferred.
Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management (preferred).
Excellent understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Extensive knowledge of safeguarding principles and practices.
Proven experience as a Manager of a large nursery setting (minimum of 2 years).
Experience with Ofsted inspections and a proven track record of quality improvement.
GCSE or equivalent qualification in Maths (or willingness to achieve this within 2 years of starting the position).
Experience in nursery administration and documentation.
Excellent communication skills with both children and adults.
Experience in marketing, market research, and utilising social media platforms (preferred).
Proven ability to create and follow up on improvement plans, conduct audits and use self-assessment tools for quality assurance of the service and education provided.
Experience in budget management, stock and resource management.
Understanding of employment law.
Responsibilities include:
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to ensure the smooth operation of the nursery.
Ensure that the nursery meets all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Build strong relationships with parents, staff, and other stakeholders to promote the nursery and its services.
Maintain high standards of health and safety, hygiene, and cleanliness throughout the nursery.
Continuously review and improve the quality of care and education provided by the nursery.
Build strong partnerships with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and agencies.

Manage the nursery operation efficiently, always aiming for full occupancy.
Lead on nursery improvement initiatives and engage in regular staff coaching and monitoring of provision to ensure ongoing enhancement.
Line manage and effectively deploy staff to ensure exceptional provision is consistently delivered.
Use data to inform teaching and learning, identify areas for intervention, and provide feedback to children, staff, and families to promote accelerated progress.
Work collaboratively with colleagues as a committed team member, building successful, high-performing teams.
Exhibit excellent time management and organisational skills.
Comply with all relevant Acts, including the Equality Act 2010, Data Protection Act 2018, and GDPR regarding staff employment and record keeping.
Supervise and support all members of the nursery team,
Oversee the HR Officer responsible for recruitment and induction, appraisals and reviews, training and development, and individual supervision and discipline.
