Job Overview:

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic

Kitchen Assistant

to join our friendly nursery team. The successful candidate will support the preparation and serving of healthy meals and snacks for young children aged 0-5 years, while maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment. This role is vital in helping to ensure the children receive nutritious food in accordance with dietary requirements and food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation of meals and snacks in line with the nursery's menu and nutritional guidelines Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen at all times Wash dishes, clean kitchen surfaces, and manage waste disposal Support with checking and storing food deliveries Ensure all food is appropriately labelled and stored to comply with food safety regulations Help maintain records related to food hygiene, allergies, and dietary needs Communicate with nursery staff about mealtimes, dietary requirements, and food preferences Comply with all health and safety policies, including food hygiene and allergen protocols

Person Specification:

Essential:

Basic food hygiene certificate (or willingness to obtain one) Understanding of food safety and cleanliness Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good time management and organizational skills Friendly and approachable attitude A genuine interest in the wellbeing of young children

Desirable:

Previous experience in a kitchen or childcare setting Knowledge of dietary and allergy requirements for young children

Pay: 12.25 per hour
