Role Overview:

We are looking for a friendly, reliable Nursery Cook / Cleaner to join our team. This dual role involves preparing healthy, child-friendly meals and ensuring our nursery environment remains clean, hygienic, and inviting at all times. You will play an important part in supporting the health, safety, and happiness of the children in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

Cooking Duties:

Plan, prepare, and cook healthy, balanced meals and snacks in line with dietary requirements and allergy information. Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety at all times. Order and manage kitchen supplies within budget guidelines. Keep detailed records relating to food safety, temperature checks, and cleaning schedules. Liaise with nursery staff to ensure menus are suitable for all children, including those with allergies and special dietary needs.

Cleaning Duties:

Carry out daily cleaning tasks across the nursery, including playroom, bathrooms, kitchen, and communal areas. Ensure all areas are cleaned to a high standard in line with health and safety and infection control policies. Report any maintenance issues or hazards promptly. Follow all safeguarding procedures to maintain a safe environment for children and staff.

Person Specification:

Essential:

Previous experience in a similar cook and/or cleaning role (preferably in a childcare, school, or healthcare setting). Understanding of food hygiene and health and safety regulations (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate desirable). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Friendly, approachable, and flexible attitude. Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and nurturing environment for children.

Desirable:

First Aid training. Knowledge of early years nutrition. Experience working in a nursery or childcare environment.
