Job Description

We are looking for a passionate cook to join our friendly team here at Little Harriers on a temporary basis with the possibility of being permanent. Working alongside our Head Chef.

Our family run nursery is set in the beautiful Surrey country side and boasts onsite woodlands and wonderful outside space.

The candidate will have a passion for cooking nutritious homecooked meals for up to 80 children serving lunch and tea, with the freedom of input into recipes and menus.

The right candidate should have some previous experience in a similar role.

The position is based on a 2-3 days a week working 8.30am - 2.30pm (these can be slightly flexible), with possibility of occasionally extra shifts to cover existing Chef.

An enhanced DBS check is required by Little Harriers Ltd and 2 references received before any employment can be started and you must then register with the update service.

Responsibilities:

Freshly preparing nutritionally balanced meals for the children (from ages 0 to 5 years), following menus created between the chef and Management. New fresh exciting meal ideas are always welcome to implement new meal ideas.

Adhering to our low sugar/salt approach to nursery meals.

Adhering to special dietary requirements and allergens.

Liaising with nursery staff to ensure that the children's nutritional needs are met. We see the nursery chef as an integral part of the nursery team.

Excellent communication skills - we are looking for someone who will be reflective of the child-centered environment of the nursery.

Following our own kitchen procedures and environmental health procedures.

Cleaning the kitchen environment and stock take.

Minimum Level 2 in Food Safety, required.

Allergen training, desirable.

Safeguarding training, desirable.

DBS registered on the update service, must be covered by candidate.
