Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.
How\xe2\x80\x99s this for job satisfaction: at Scottish Water we look after Scotland\'s most precious natural resource.
From source to tap, we\xe2\x80\x99re guarding Scotland\xe2\x80\x99s reputation for refreshingly pure water, and caring for our environment at the same time.
Sound good? We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for motivated people to join our Water Response team, working in the Orkney area.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do
Your number-one priority is resolving customer issues. You\xe2\x80\x99ll take control of any situation, investigate problems and come up with solutions that make customers happy \xe2\x80\x93 always making sure they\xe2\x80\x99re kept up to date.
You\xe2\x80\x99ll also carry out routine repairs and maintenance on water and sewer network infrastructure, as well as plant, equipment and vehicle checks. All while putting health and safety first (Chapter 8 NSRWA will be your guide), and keeping any service disruption to a minimum.
Accurate reports are essential, so you\xe2\x80\x99ll be across reporting systems for measuring performance and productivity. And as you\xe2\x80\x99ll be working as part of a team, you\xe2\x80\x99ll do your turn on the standby rota for out-of-hours work.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll bring
You\xe2\x80\x99ll spend a fair amount of time working alone, so you\xe2\x80\x99ll need to be self-motivated, but still eager to contribute to your team\xe2\x80\x99s goals. Basic IT skills are a must, as you\xe2\x80\x99ll be using digital equipment and apps throughout the day. You\xe2\x80\x99ll need report writing skills too \xe2\x80\x93 nothing fancy, but enough to get your point across clearly, quickly, and accurately.
A full, clean driving licence is non-negotiable, as you\xe2\x80\x99ll need to travel around sites in the Glasgow area.
A few \xe2\x80\x98nice to haves\xe2\x80\x99: it would be ideal if you have experience with HGVs or 180/360 excavators. And experience using cable avoidance tools would be good. As would an understanding of health and safety principles for site working or skills in basic ground.
Holding a CPCS or NSRWA qualification would be great, but it\xe2\x80\x99s not a must-have.
Looking out for you
While the work we do is important, we know it\xe2\x80\x99s not the only thing that matters. That\xe2\x80\x99s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.
For your future, there\xe2\x80\x99s our pension (the \xe2\x80\x98know-what-you\xe2\x80\x99ll-get-when-you-retire\xe2\x80\x99 kind), as well as life assurance.
As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash \xe2\x80\x93 handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.
