About us
Diamond Light Source is the UK\xe2\x80\x99s national synchrotron producing very intense beams of X-rays, infrared and ultraviolet light. Our scientists and user community use the light to study a vast range of subject matter, from new medicines and treatments for disease to innovative engineering and cutting-edge technology.
We offer seven macromolecular crystallography beamlines to the international structural biology community. Alongside specialist MX beamlines for long wavelength, room temperature and micro-focus data collections we operate several high throughput and automated beamlines for cryogenically mounted samples. In the mid-2020s Diamond will undergo a major upgrade to its machine and beamlines (the ). For the MX group this includes the construction of the K04 XChem beamline for high throughput fragment screening, a flagship project (KMX) to upgrade the microfocus beamline I24 for cryo and room temperature MX and new end-stations and sample delivery methods for ultra-high throughput MX. All MX beamlines will undergo critical upgrades and a programme of competitive upgrades will enhance capabilities across the suite.
About the role
We now have an opportunity for a Beamline Scientist to support our ongoing user programme, the beamlines, and these upgrade activities, to work across the group as part of our mx user support team. You will be actively supporting our users and beamlines and using and growing your skills on projects aligned to the aims of the MX group.
