Mears provides temporary accommodation to asylum seekers whilst their claim is being assessed. In May 2021, Mears had over 19000 service users across five regions: Northwest, Yorkshire and Humber, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. Mears work in partnership with central and local Government, registered providers, tenants, landlords and investors to find solutions to homelessness, provide more social and affordable housing and create specialist housing for people with care needs.

The right person will be part of a local team undertaking high standard Multi Trade repairs and refurbishment activities to commercial, residential, and public buildings across Belfast as well as the whole of Northern Ireland, while delivering best in class customer service and satisfying all safety, quality, and cost control standards.

Key Responsibilities \xe2\x80\x93 Multi-Skilled Operative

• Take ownership in undertaking construction, fault finding and maintenance repairs aiming for a first-time completion whilst remaining within budget and time parameters.
• Deliver additional trade activities in support of completing repair/refurbishment works on time and to a high standard in accordance with agreed standard operating procedures.
• Ensure that the customer experience is central to all activities by adopting a professional manner when communicating with service users, clients, and both internal/external stakeholders.
• It may be necessary where requested to obtain Customer feedback on completion of works.
• Process all activities in association with tasks/works electronically utilising a handheld device (PDA).
• Keep all supplied company assets in a good condition in line with the company policies and report to your Supervisor/Manager where damages occur.
• Utilise existing stock or collect materials as and when required to meet works order requirements, in accordance with standard operating procedures for purchasing and van stock control compliance.
• Attend informal and formal meetings and training sessions as required.
• Participate in call out cover when required to ensure contract compliance & service user satisfaction for emergency repairs.

Qualifications & Requirements \xe2\x80\x93 Multi-Skilled Operative

• Qualified in a minimum of one trade discipline and having capabilities to undertake works from the following selection:

• Carpentry & Joinery
• Plastering
• Plumbing
• Experience in various trade disciplines.
• Able to understand & follow standard operating procedures.
• Experience working within Social Housing (Desirable).
• NVQ Level 2 (Desirable).
