Summary
We are seeking a MOT Quality Assessor to join our team to work within the Scottish Motor Trade Association Quality Standards team, covering Ayrshire, Dumfries & Galloway, and the Scottish Borders areas (on occasion, you may be asked to cover other areas of Scotland).
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all MOT assessments meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. Your expertise will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our services and supporting our members across the industry.
The hours for this position will be 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
Requirements
A qualified and experienced mechanic with a robust working knowledge of the MOT test process (this is an essential requirement to the job, applicants who apply that do not meet this criteria will not be considered).
An excellent communicator.
Be able to organise their diary efficiently.
Possess strong attention to detail.
Someone who can constructively provide feedback to our members.
Responsibilities
Your main duty will be to carry out MOT quality assessments and observed tests within the member garage premises. You will be expected to communicate your findings to the garage and explain any areas of concern.
Ability to conduct tester quality checks by observing testing practices or by partial re-examination of previously tested vehicles.
Skills & Attributes required:
Confident in the use of computers to access and analyse VTS and tester data available on DVSA's web-based MOT Testing Service.
Present or discuss those findings at an appropriate level within the client/member business.
Smart in appearance as you will be representing the Scottish Motor Trade Association, and appropriate for the type of establishment being visited.
Able to manage workload in a time and cost-efficient manner.
Flexibility to working patterns, including a willingness on occasions to start early, or on occasion, finish late or stay away from home overnight.
Ability to assess the premises and equipment for compliance with standards set by DVSA.
