Role: Metal Model Maker - Fitter

Do you have Model Making or Tool Making experience, and are you seeking a new job? Jonathan Lee Recruitment is helping a leading aerospace research company recruit a Metal Model Maker to work on the testing of prototype aircraft. The role comes with an attractive salary and benefits package.

As a Metal Model Maker, you will actively contribute to the hand working, fitting and assembling of wind tunnel model components, ensuring work is produced on time and within budget within the job requirements and company standards to enhance delivery in accordance with project manufacturing schedules.

In your first few weeks in this Metal Model Maker (Fitter) role, you can expect to:

• Carry out all aspects of fitting activity, including hand-working surfaces to remove machine marks, blending component joint lines to remove steps/gaps, fitting precision components and assembling models, installing pressure tubing
• Monitor the serviceability of Fitting Section machines, equipment and tooling, and report potential problems
• Support on-the-job training and coaching less experienced staff working in the Fitting section

To apply for this Metal Model Maker role, you will need to be a competent Model Maker or Toolmaker with experience of making high precision metal assemblies to comply with exceptionally tight tolerances. You will also require the following:

• Experienced in the effective and efficient bench fitting of components, sub-assemblies and assemblies to ensure project schedules are adhered to
• Solid understanding of EDM wiring and plunge, turning, jig boring, grinding and CNC machining
• An enthusiastic attitude to overcoming technical problems as soon as they arise

The successful candidate MUST satisfy security clearance requirements - have been based in the UK for a minimum of the last 5-years.
