Overview

The ICT Schools Team is seeking an MIS Support Officer with Arbor and/or SIMS experience to provide telephone support, training and consultancy. This role would suit someone who has previously worked in either a Secondary or Primary school or in a Support Unit environment; such that the degree of knowledge confers a level of confidence.

This position can be offered between 43 - 52 weeks per year, to be agreed with the hiring manager. The salary advertised is for a full-time position working 52 weeks per year, if you work fewer weeks the salary advertised would be pro-rata.

About us

The ICT Schools Team is a long established team providing support services to LA Maintained Schools, Academies and Trusts within Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and London Boroughs including Nursery, Infant, Junior, Combined, Secondary, Special and PRUs School phases. The service offers telephone, email and remote support; training and consultancy on SIMS, Arbor, FMS, PFM and Iris Financials; together with a full range of Technical Support services.

The team consist of three sub teams; MIS Support, Financial Systems Support and Technical Support; plus a Team Administrator.

About the role

The MIS Support Officer will provide telephone, email and remote support for SIMS and/or Arbor Management Information Software (MIS) and develop knowledge in other software areas to ensure a comprehensive service to customers, primarily providing support and guidance to schools to help them maximise the benefits from their Management Information System (MIS); comply with Dept for Education & Ofsted statutory, safeguarding and legislative guidance, plus Local Government directive.

At this level roles require a practical and theoretical understanding to solve complex problems; provide professional, confident advice to service users; manage projects and/or other resource assets, as directed.

  • Grade 4-5
  • 37 Hours per week
  • 43 - 52 weeks per year
  • The ability to travel to schools throughout Bucks is essential for which you will receive the HMRC mileage allowance

  • The expectation is that the successful applicant would enter on a Grade 4 and depending on service requirements and training ability, move onto a grade 5 at a later stage of employment.

The ICT Schools Team currently have a mix of working in office and working from home. There is an expectation that the post holder will work in the office min 2 days per week, including office based training commitments.

Fixed

As a \'fixed\' worker, you\'ll spend most of your time in the same location, which will likely be a fixed office or location where your role is performed. Typically, you\'ll be based in the same location as the rest of your team, because you provide a particular service from that fixed location or need access to information there.

About you
  • Educated to degree level, equivalent qualification or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrable, knowledge and experience SIMS MIS; Primary and/or Secondary modules.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of the Education or School environment.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritise and coordinate workload with colleagues to ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Demonstrable ability to prioritise multiple problems and communicate status to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable basic IT Technical understanding.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and TEAMS.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Arbor MIS; Primary and Secondary modules is desirable
Other information

If the successful applicant does not hold an Arbor Core Support Accreditation, there will be an expectation that this will be achieved during the first year of employment.
