Jamie Oliver Restaurants are currently looking for an enthusiastic and creative mid-weight interior designer to join our in-house restaurant Design Studio in the Jamie Oliver Group's lively and friendly North London head office.

Our purpose is to assist in the growth of the existing 70+ strong international restaurant estate through supporting the design and development of our diverse brands across the globe. We work alongside the Jamie Oliver Group's wider creative teams who work on Jamie's award-winning books, TV and digital content; industry experts who develop Jamie's range of kitchenware, food products and partnerships; plus the campaigns team who lead the way on Jamie's ambitious goal to halve childhood obesity by 2030.

Position
Why you're here
We are looking for a Mid-Weight Designer to join the team for a 6 month fixed term contract. As a key member of the Design Studio, you will be responsible for running multiple F&B projects and supporting local design teams in the delivery of our new restaurants across the globe. As a brand guardian, the role is integral to ensuring the brand is protected and well represented through the restaurant design.
In addition to interior design, you'll work alongside our F&B, Business Development & Operations teams to help grow and evolve our existing international brands such as Jamie's Italian, Jamie Oliver Kitchen and our Deli, Pizzeria and Diner brands. While also having the opportunity to work on some exciting one-off projects and brand development, both in the UK and abroad.
The role requires an ability to work collaboratively with international and UK teams to deliver projects relevant to the local market, while maintaining our core brand identities and standards.
With the majority of projects based internationally, a willingness to travel to help deliver and sign-off projects will be an important part of the role, and to assist in the smooth running of the studio and the implementation of longer-term team objectives.
What you're here to do
Preparing feasibility layouts and conceptual development of projects under the supervision of the senior team management
Preparing Design Intent Drawing Packages.
FF&E research, material sourcing and preparation of schedules.
Responsibility for all aspects of job running and management of workload under the supervision and support of the senior management team.
Liaising with external project teams and franchise partners in the development and coordination of UK and international projects.
Review and critique of concept and design drawing packs produced by external project teams.
Producing hand-drawn sketches to aid exploration and development of designs.
Assisting the team to develop new and existing restaurant brands at a conceptual level.
Assisting the team to produce brand and business development presentations
Assisting the team in implementing and achieving the JOR and JO Group social impact goals

Requirements
What you need to know
A degree in interior design or architecture
Experienced in F&B / Hospitality Design
Strong CAD skills (ideally AutoCAD).
Proficiency in SketchUp, Photoshop, and InDesign.
Good construction knowledge and understanding of technical drawings.
Good organisational skills to run multiple projects simultaneously and a keen attention to detail
Freehand sketching ability to communicate ideas quickly.
Keen to travel, almost anywhere in the world.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
How you'll do it
Passionate about cutting-edge F&B / Hospitality Design and demonstrate practical experience in the sector. You will demonstrate a broad range of skills to communicate and bring your ideas to life.
You'll have a strong creative design background and extensive FF&E knowledge. You will be up to date on the latest trends, be a keen market researcher and always looking for new sources of inspiration.
Proactive attitude and will enjoy working in a collaborative environment that is constantly changing and evolving. Enjoy working in a fast-paced, creative company, with lots of like-minded people and will be purpose-driven to help us positively impact the global food industry.
A great team player and have the confidence and ability to create and maintain a positive working relationship with the members of the studio, our operators & chefs and external project teams.
The role will be client-facing so confident relationship management is essential.
You'll have strong attention to detail. Upholding of office drawing and general standards will be an integral part of the role. You'll be a good communicator and have proven experience in guiding other designers.
You'll be highly organised, have strong time management skills and be able to work well under pressure. You will carry out delegated tasks in a methodical and organised way and be responsible for the management of others to deliver to deadlines.
The role encompasses all aspects of team management and the candidate will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects simultaneously from conception to delivery. Support from the Head of Design will be limited, so the ability to work autonomously is key.
