We are looking to recruit a new Medical Receptionist to join the Reception team here at Lavant Road Surgery, working 30-37 hours per week every day Monday to Friday.

Experience as a Medical Receptionist is not essential as training will be given to the right candidate.

JOB SUMMARY:



To facilitate patients accessing the clinical care provided by the practice

To ensure GP's and Nurses have relevant information necessary for patient care

To act as first point of contact for anyone accessing the practice for advice, information or support

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



To ensure all visitors to the practice are greeted professionally

To ensure all telephone callers are greeted professionally and that the call is managed appropriately

To manage the flow of patients arriving for appointments, requesting repeat prescriptions, test results and other information

To pass on information, queries and requests from patients and other callers to GP's and Nurses accurately and with appropriate priority.

KEY TASKS:



RECEPTION DUTIES



Greeting patients face to face and over the telephone Making appointments Dealing with requests for test results Taking registration details form patients Accepting samples from patients Dealing with patient requests for visits, queries or other information and passing on requests to Doctor appropriately and accurately (including using Visit screen or Tasks) Retrieving and filing paper notes for surgeries when needed Overseeing patient flow into and within the waiting room

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION DUTIES



Acting on and forwarding requests from patients and doctors via Tasks Using any additional software to process data and facilitate patient care e.g. AccuRX to send patient information. eConsult to record patient requests and information, make appts etc. General data input and data retrieval on the SystmOne computer system Scanning correspondence into SystmOne computer system Producing appointments lists for surgeries when needed Assisting dispensary with patient queries, telephone calls, sorting of prescriptions where appropriate Undertake any reasonable duties as required by the post.

SPECIFIC ADMINISTRATION DUTIES (Each Receptionist has different duties and tasks. Please see additional Protocols as needed)



Clerical work associated with private medical reports or examinations - e.g. insurance reports, PMA's etc. Clerical work associated with GMS contract and Quality and outcomes Framework Assisting with recall systems and generation of letters associated with the GMS contract Quality and outcomes Framework Assisting with Child immunisation administration

GENERAL RESPONSABILITIES FOR ALL STAFF



Adhere to practice policies and procedures and relevant legislation including the requirements of any professional bodies. Attend and complete mandatory training as identified by the practice. Highlight potential development areas.
The post-holder must maintain the confidentiality of information about patients' staff and practice business in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018.

Employees must be aware of the responsibilities placed upon them under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974), to ensure that the agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe environment for employees and visitors.

All members of staff have a responsibility to report all clinical and non-clinical accidents, incidents or near-misses promptly and when requested to co-operate with any investigations undertaken.

All members of staff have a responsibility to demonstrate due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Pay: From 12.48 per hour
