Summary



We are seeking 2 Mediators to join our team at Threshold DAS. In this role, you will facilitate discussions between conflicting parties, guiding them towards mutually beneficial resolutions. Your expertise will play a vital role in promoting peace and understanding in various contexts.

Responsibilities



Facilitate mediation sessions between parties in conflict. Encourage open communication and understanding among participants. Help parties identify their needs and interests to reach a resolution. Maintain neutrality and impartiality throughout the mediation process. Document agreements reached during mediation sessions. Provide follow-up support to ensure compliance with agreements.

Requirements



Proven experience in mediation or conflict resolution is preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Ability to remain neutral and impartial in all situations. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically. A background in psychology, law, or social work is advantageous.

The Mediator will be a key member of the team reporting directly to the Regional Manager and will be responsible for the delivery of mediation services across Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Housing Mediation Officer. Flexible location within Carmarthenshire or Ceredigion.

You will be required to assess conflict situations across tenures throughout Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion and will work directly with individuals undertaking home visits as required to identify the most appropriate method of intervention to resolve or manage the conflict. You will be involved in providing practical support to those affected by Domestic Abuse and Anti-Social Behaviour, therefore knowledge of current ASB legislation is desirable.

Assess and analyse conflict (complex) situations across all tenures throughout Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, including problems or information concerning homelessness as a result of conflict within the family home. Undertake appropriate liaison with other organisations where required, identifying the most appropriate method of intervention to resolve or manage the conflict and provide practical support to all tenants affected by antisocial behaviour

This post will require working irregular and unsocial hours, which may include weekends

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Facilitate negotiation and settlement between disputing parties by providing direction and encouragement, working collaboratively with parties, and finding creative ways to reach a mutual solution.

Provide advice to service users and make referrals to other agencies and organisations where appropriate.

Work cooperatively with partner agencies and organisations in tackling homelessness and threats of homelessness because of domestic abuse antisocial behaviour and dispute resolution.

Guide and advise Assistant Housing Officers and Early Intervention Officers, checking work as appropriate.

Maintain case files and statistical/other relevant information on antisocial behaviour incidents.

Provide practical support to people experiencing antisocial behaviour across all tenures

Attend tenant and community safety meetings as required.

Input into the development of the Housing team strategy and policy

Update and maintain records, files, and databases in line with records management standards

To undertake safety focussed work with partners and ex-partners of those experiencing homelessness or who are at threat of homelessness.

Screening of all referrals to determine which cases are appropriate for mediation.

Provide shuttle mediation, online or telephone mediation when appropriate.

Provide mediation on a 1: 1 basis and where appropriate, as a family, or to a young person and their parents, to stop that young person from leaving home.

To work with women and men leaving the prison system.

Assist service users with safety strategies for themselves and their children.

Mediate in family conflict situations.

Help to develop a pattern of communication between the family members (both immediate and extended family

Prepare settlement agreements.

Make referrals to appropriate organisations.

Liaise closely with other Threshold and Partners services.

Keep accurate and confidential records of discussions.

To prepare reports for other agencies in line with the programme's confidentiality policy.

To provide advocacy on behalf of service users with external agencies whereappropriate

To liaise with other agencies as appropriate, attending core group and caseconferences as required

To take part in casework and risk review meetings with other team workers aboutparticipation and issues from work with women, to ensure that women's and children'ssafety remains at the forefront of the work.

To implement actions agreed upon in risk review discussions

Support with new relationships and support to access 'Clare Law'

Support through the court system including criminal courts and family courts

Ongoing discussions between criminal and civil justice agencies, community members and victims to close gaps and improve the community's response to domestic abuse.

Support and facilitate the health and well-being side of the programme

To assist in presentations or workshops about the work.

To attend clinical/practice supervision

To assist in producing statistical and other reports on work done with women to meet therequirements of funders (Community Big Lottery) and the Board of Trustees

To actively participate in local Domestic Violence Forum and other related groups/forumsas required

Ensure services implement best practices concerning safety, accessibility, and participation.

Report any concerns to the designated child protection person.

Understand multi-agency partnership structures and work within a multi-agency setting concerning homelessness and housing.

Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality and information sharing policy and procedures and all legislation connected to your work.

Respect and value the diversity of the community in which the services work and recognise the needs and concerns of a diverse range of individuals ensuring the service are accessible to all.

Be proactive in carrying out periodic case reviews for the Ty Rhosyn Housing Support Services partnership.

Ensure that any safeguarding matters are dealt with following Threshold DAS and Partners safeguarding policies and procedures.
