Hello. We are a media planning and buying agency based in Cardiff. We deliver campaigns for clients across the United Kingdom and beyond.We specialise in delivering results for our clients by getting them the right kind of attention.Our focus is on results. Its what we do, and we do it with a smile.From our home in Cardiffs tech and creative hub, Tramshed Tech, and also from our actual homes since COVID-19 decided to wreak havoc on the world, we work with some fantastic brands (or, as we like to call them, Attention Seekers), such as Brecon Carreg, Visit Herefordshire, Poland Tourism, and the Local Government Association.We want to keep growing, and as we embark on a brand refresh, we think now is the right time to appoint a marketing leader.The successful candidate will build our agency's reputation and profile and support new business efforts.They will create and implement our marketing and communications strategy and plans for building client relationships.What will our Marketing Lead be responsible for?

  • Devising and leading the agency's internal and external marketing strategy and plans. Managing and leading the internal communication within the agency.
  • Identifying opportunities to raise our profile/brand, which will enable new client opportunities and build/reinforce the reputation internally and externally.
  • Maximising the effectiveness of our membership of industry bodies to improve our agencys standing within the industry. This includes representing us within industry organisations, attending networking and other events.
  • Managing PR activities to achieve maximum coverage, including figureheads, client wins, opinion pieces, and managing an external PR agency where required.
  • Writing thought leadership pieces storytelling, making complex arguments buyable and encouraging and helping others to do the same.
  • Developing and implementing the marketing communication plan to support the attraction of new client opportunities.
  • Developing, creating and delivering marketing materials for multiple channels, including social media, print, out of home and audio.
What is the work like?Day to day, your tasks might include:
  • Working with our brand agency to deliver campaigns
  • Working with our graphic designer to ensure our website is updated
  • Creating new case studies that can be used on our website and socials
  • Creating blog posts so that our website is updated and regularly refreshed
  • Working with an animator to bring our content to life
  • Updating social media, in particular X and LinkedIn
  • Working on advertising and business development plans to attract new clients
  • Identifying awards that we can enter to recognise client achievements
  • Writing our monthly email newsletter and growing our subscriber base
  • Seeking out partnership opportunities with complementary agencies
  • Writing press releases for new hires and new business wins and contributing to the drafting of thought leadership pieces
  • Assisting with any branding initiatives and being the brand guardian generally as to how we are represented and our assets used
  • Attending and helping organise events
  • Collaborating with client leads and senior leadership on event development and success monitoring
RequirementsThose who will succeed in this role are:
  • Strategic thinkers who can inform the bigger picture, ensuring that all marketing and communications activity is aligned and supports the overall business objectives
  • Consultative on all aspects of marketing when collaborating with colleagues across the agency offering advice, insight and education on the best approaches to optimise their marketing efforts
  • Able to quickly acquire a solid understanding of our agency to help inform best marketing practices to grow Hello Starlings reputation and win new business
  • Experienced at planning and delivering a range of activities and events whilst coordinating communications both internally and externally
  • Excellent communicators, both in understanding others and being understood, in all mediums
  • Experienced in working in a professional services firm, ideally a media/creative/PR or marketing agency, where they have led brand communication and successful marketing campaigns and events
  • Effective financial management skills, including models of assessing return on investment in marketing spend
  • Effective at writing compelling copy
  • Effective at developing an award strategy and writing award entries
  • Skilled at maintaining and developing media contacts from journalists
  • Proficient at identifying external speaking and leadership opportunities

Hours and environmentWe generally work Monday to Friday, 9-5.
