About the team

Mechanical Engineering:

As part of a small engineering support unit at Farnborough, you will be carrying out the build of display standard models for support to projects / exhibitions as well as supporting the QinetiQ sites with the build of non-metallic assemblies using a range of machine and hand tools to supplied drawings or working with a customer to develop solutions for their projects. This can range from repairing / modifying existing parts / assemblies or to complex engineering projects like the Electric Drive Systems under development at Farnborough. You will be working with a range of materials including wood, plastics (3 D Printing and vacuum forming) as well as Fabrics.

What will I be doing?

• Manufacture and assembly of non-metallic components and Structures.
• Build exhibition standard Models.
• When required carry out simple wiring and electronic assembly.
• Working with Design Engineers or the customer direct on solutions to projects.
• Personal development in the use of QinetiQ Drawing CAD System by using in-house training to document work undertaken directly for customers.
• Ensure that the facility is operated safely and maintained to the required standards.

Academic requirements:

• Must have attained or be predicted 5 GCSE\'s A*-C, 4-9 in Maths, English Language, Science and 2 other subjects or equivalent

Apprenticeship:

Level 3 Engineering Technican - Pathway 11, Product Design and Development Technician

Additional requirements:

• Have a strong interest and/or experience within an engineering environment.
• Passionate about engineering.
• Want to learn and develop skills.
• Be comfortable working within a small team and talking to customers.

Mandatory:
