Job Description

iO Associates is looking for a Mechanical Engineer, to work at the Stevenage for a global pioneer in the aerospace industry, operating in the commercial aircraft, helicopters, defence, and space sectors.

This role entails contributing to the assembly of critical Satellite components, including black boxes, Solar Arrays, and structural panels, as well as providing essential support for Satellite environmental testing conducted at the testing facility.

Location: Stevenage, UK

Daily rate: up to \xc2\xa335 per hour Inside IR35

Working pattern: On-site (some flexibility)

A successful candidate will have:

• HNC level or higher in a mechanical discipline. If a high level of experience in a related field can be proven, a lower certification is allowed.
• Proficient in techniques used in lean manufacturing, such as 5S, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Experience in environmental tests (Vibration, Acoustic, Mass properties, Thermal), prepared and executed at the unit, subsystem, instrument, and spacecraft levels.
• Installation and handling of thermal hardware (thermistors, heaters)
• Documentation and process involved in the mechanical integration of electronic components, subsystems, and instruments, mechanisms, antennas, solar arrays, mechanical sub-systems, instruments, payloads, and spacecraft.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in customizing processes from project kick-off.
• Participate in project DMU (Digital Mock-Up/Design for Manufacture) sessions to ensure manufacturing-friendly design.
• Contribute to the creation of production phase documents, including ACS inputs, work instructions, and procedures.
• Contribute to defining MGSE (Mechanical Ground Support Equipment) for Satellite use and assist in procurement activities.
• Support quality reviews, conduct PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and perform Root Cause Analysis.
